When I saw Wayne Carey's slap at Hawthorn's aging warriors last week I thought...."Oh god...Hodgey's gonna take that out on someone"...so it was no surprise that the old boys (Hodge, Mitchell, Burgoyne, Lewis) destroyed the Crows last weekend. Later in the week I saw Bomber Thompson interviewed and he was asked about getting media mates to "plant" stories in order to rev up his players. Then I put two and two together and realised that Carey and Clarko had played for 5-6 years together at North and I just went....bingo!

So....did Clarko use Carey to rev up his players?
And what little gem will the two Coaching giants of the AFL (Clarko and Rossy) come up with this week?

Good theory, in reality i think the old article as rev up is long gone.
Doubt it makes much difference - the best players often are self motivated

I think Dave would have the umpires fired up on a weekly basis. What with being called "scumps" 156 times between Sunday and Thursday, they'd be ready to give the performance of their lives by Saturday.
