Using Wireless Broadband in the UK

Hi All

I am heading overseas next week and will be taking my laptop with me. I will need it for study.

However, I will also need it to access the internet. I am not a technologically savvy person, so I was wondering, if I have a wireless card in my laptop, how easy is it to hook into broadband (WiFi or whatever they call it over there) provided in hotels etc...

Very easy. I just came back from eastern Europe and easily logged in to most hotels and other unsecured hotspots. At worst, your hotel will give you an access code to use their wireless. Many places like McDonalds provide free wireless so there shouldn't be a problem getting the internet over there.

Yeah I just got back from Europe also and almost every hotel I stayed in had a WIFI connection available. Sometimes it was unsecured other times you just had to ask at the lobby for a code.

Sometimes the routers are a little bit shit so you might have to sit in the lobby to get any signal. If you are staying in nice hotels this shouldn't be a problem.

Are you staying for long? Just wondering because you can also get some good deals on wireless broadband which I also used for my lengthy stay in England.

I am staying for about six weeks, so not that long. Just easier if I can sit in my room and work, check emails etc...without having to go to an internet cafe!
