I was going through some old Amateur Footballerrecords some time ago, and I couldn't believe the suspensions handed out by the VAFA Tribunals in the 1970's and early 80's. The penalties ranged from 4 weeks to 12 months due to a variety of offences. Now, the VAFA tribunal only hand out suspensions ranged between 1-4 weeks, due to the 'prescribed penalty' clause. Has the VAFA Tribunal gone soft compared to its counterparts of the '70's and 1980's?
