The positive effect he had on our players in such a short time was huge.... especially on Knights, Campbell, Free.... etc..
RIP Yabbie...
Nut, you forgot about the influence on Boof Maxfield. He made him... trust me.

His half-time speech in the 89 grand final is the stuff that makes you want to run through walls. Half his team was busted up and he told them of the man who faced a choice between the shoes he wanted, which were expensive but just right, or a cheaper pair that pinched. He chose the cheaper pair, walked around with his feet being pinched and ruing to himself, "I wish I'd paid the price."
Then he looked all his men in the eye - and Yabby was the kind of man when he looked you in the eye you didn't look away until he let you - and asked them each, "Are you willing to pay the price?. Will you pay the price or will you feel the pinch for as long as you're walking around?" Goosebumps.
Like Tommy Hafey he was a mentor, father-figure and make-you-a-better-man influence we are all lucky if we encounter once in a lifetime. There will be a lot of sad old Hawks and Saints tonight, men who can say Allan Jeans made them what they are.
Doc Baldock, Bobby Davis, Yabby Jeans: some great men gone this year.![]()

RIP Yabby
I can understand Bartletts ire at what happened to him ... but the opportunity to get this bloke to coach our club , Schmeagle should have built a bridge long before now
