EX-AFL footballer and Australian Survivor winner Rob Dickson was killed overnight in a car accident in South Africa.

Dickson, 45, was on holiday with his family when the accident took place, according to friends.

Full Story here

Rob only played one season for the Bears, but was a member of the Rodney Eade-coached 1991 Reserves permiership team. He's probably most remembered for his football documentaries and winning Australian Survivor.

Rob was also the Bears runner for many years, and made that documentry that was on a few weeks back "essence of the game" or something similar.

Condolances to his family and friends. May he and his son rest in peace.

:(

Very sad passing. Was good for the game. Every team should wear black armbands in respect for him.

A minute's silence was observed before the commencement of the game.

Can't really remember Dickson but was particularly saddened when the Ground Announcer said both he and his son had lost their lives.

A timely reminder of the fragility of our human existence.

Very, very sad to hear of the passing of both him and his son.

I've been a great fan of his documentary's. Didn't really get to see him in action as a player. But given how great his films have been, his love for this game was deep, and that speaks a lot as far as I'm concerned.

Condolences to his family :( Way too soon for both Father and son :(

South African roads sound way too treacherous for my liking. One week the Brumbies lose a bloke there, the next you hear this. Was nice to be at the ground and see the honour guard and minutes silence. Dunno if it was a BBFFC or AFL call to do it, but all class.
