Other Valentine Holmes - Chasing the NFL Dream

I think next year I'm going to register for the Intl Pathway Program.....as GM.
I'll create a pdf presentation of all my stud fantasy draft selections, trades, and in-season acquisitions, the team logos I created.
Instead of doing things like running the 40 and whatnot, they can seat me at a table with a computer and phone and put me thru my paces there.

You’ll be arrested

Just some context to what this means..

The NFL announced that Holmes and other elite athletes in the International Pathway Program have been allocated to teams in the AFC East division - the Jets, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

British rugby union speedster Christian Wade will join the Bills.

Brazilian judo champion Durval Neto was picked up by the Miami Dolphins and German tight end Jakob Johnson will go with the Super Bowl champion Patriots.

Pathway players become members of team's practice squads and will not be eligible to play games.

The program is designed to give elite athletes with little American football knowledge a chance to insert themselves with an NFL team and learn the game without the pressure of being cut.

Holmes will be hit with a significant pay cut from his NRL days.

Pathway players on NFL practice squads earn about $US129,200 ($A181,500) per season.

Holmes, the former Cronulla, Queensland and Australian representative fullback, and the other Pathway players spent the past three months at Florida's IMG Academy learning how to train and play American football.

Oh, he's one of those guys.

He's basically guaranteed to be at TC this year and next, and will be on their practice squad this season because he won't count against the usual cap on numbers of people on the PS at any one time. IIRC this program has been around for 2 years so far, and I think one of the players from the first year made the Panthers final roster last year (he might have been a DE)

What a stupid article.

Backup contract, that was always a backup contract, not required while guy has a crack.

End of story.

Daily Telegraph going to pay a New York/New Jersey journalist to ask a question about him every week so they can pretend he's a big star? Someone said that happened with Jarryd Hayne in San Francisco.

With the greatest respect to Holmes, he looks like a plodder wasting a roster position and everyone's time.
As a RB he looked lost as a runner and a blocker. Looked better as a receiver, but he's running too high - that 14 yd gain should have gone for more.

Anyone know if any of the Jets preseason games will be on Foxtel or FTA in Vic? Can't see any Jets games listed in Foxtel guide on ESPN. How much time if any do we think Holmes will get next game?

He may get a gig on practice squad but doubt he’ll make final squad. If he does then great but he’ll get very limited time, maybe special teams like Hayne

There won't be any pre-season games on FTA.

He'll likely get progressively less playing time in the next two games as the presumed starters begin to play more in preparation for the regular season.

Broken is on the mark. holmes would be better served converting to slot receiver. he has good hands and could have a little YAC ability. but his running is horrifically too high, and that run where he got tackled and dumped, he looked like a deer in lights when he approached a tackler head-on, tho he did better on some later runs where he lowered himself a little.
