There was a bit about this on MMM's site in august, but nothing more forthcoming.

Here's some awesome news for all you classic hard rock fans out there. Van Halen are hotly tipped to be doing a tour of Australia next year. And we're talking the 'real' Van Halen including the jumping David Lee Roth on vocals and six-string god Eddie Van Halen.

Our music reporter Nui Te Koha gave us the rocking news this morning. "Big, big rumour. Van Halen with David Lee Roth, early next year."

The band's new album due out in March next year is their first with singer David Lee Roth in 25 years and "the tour will follow shortly after that".

Eddie Van Halen told US Rolling Stone last year that his band’s reunion tour through America in 2008 was a massive success. They played 74 shows and the tour ended up making $US93 million.

"We are a band,” said Eddie Van Halen. “We had a lot of fun – Dave was a blast. I’m looking forward to getting on it."

I couldn't find a thread on this, so thought I'd throw it up here, as I was talking with some mates at a BBQ last week about how Van Halen with DLR would be a must see.

Anyone else marginally interested?

Interesting..but these guys are past it. Especially Dave.

Better off spending $15 and checking out the DLR-era Van Halen cover band X-Halen. Great show.

Lead singer is a better Dave than Dave!

After seeing Metallica tomorrow night, Paul McCartney, original GNR (never gonna happen) and the original VH (it still won't be the original as Mikie won't be there) are the only performers I haven't seen live but would still like to.

Dave can't hit the high note any more but his voice is now deeper than it was before. Gives it a better sound for some songs but for ones like 'I'm on fire' he struggles.

Would definitely go and see it.

Yeah i heard on Tripple M last week that they were touring here next year as well, Be awesome to see them for sure, Although id rather that it was Hagar who was back, Ive also heard that Mike Anthony is back with them to record the new album & for the tour as well.
