New and recent changes. Some are already in v9.2, some are coming soon in v9.3.

1. All Stats
As anyone with half an eye would be aware, I've introduced a spiffy cross-season stat reporting function (eeks just typoes function is a very naughty way). While still a WIP, its probably releasable in its current form. Tarks has been using a quickly concocted specialised version and I haven't heard any screaming yet so it seems to be going ok.

2. Votes
I've been tweaking the voting. A lot. Its been a point of contention pretty much forever. Nobody likes that the voters seem to be a bit ignorant of some players' big games. It is true that votes are not dreamteam points, where you get a positive score for missing a shot at goal ffs! But nevertheless, some players can rack up 35 possessions, and kick goals, and not jag a vote. Even if their opponent also racked up 25 possessions and kicked a goal, surely the former must have had some sort of high-end impact. So my overhaul is including a couple more points per possession/disposal regardless of the quality of that disposal.
The majority of the form rating that goes towards votes will still come from the quality of playmaking, but there's a little bit of a boost for quantity. We can call it the "presence" quotient.

3. Data Integrity / Loss of Data
I have to say that, no matter how hard I try, data can still be lost. Its just you guys simming a match and forgetting to tick some setting, or choosing wrong teams or round number by accident. Its often my programming! Sometimes its just DOS falling over. To this end a "Revoke" function has been added. It only works for the last match played. If you picked the wrong teams, or forgot to make some positional changes that a captain gave you. You can revoke the match played, and start it again.

This, though, is just an additional failsafe. There is a better way, if you know you've stuffed it up before the match is over: Press {Esc} to conclude match early, then press {Esc} again to tell Qooty to ignore that match.

In fact, now with a change coming in v9.3 any match concluded early (manually with {Esc}) now is prohibited from saving as a completed match. Qooty will force you to discard it.

This does not change the current option of waiting until a match plays out, and then pressing {Esc} to discard it. Some folks don't know about that.

But, this is all well good, but it doesn't help if you've played a whole round or more, before realising you've stuffed something up. I don't have a fix for that, yet. But I do have a failsafe, and I've always used it. For anyone not currently using this, you'd be crazy not to:

Before starting a new round of matches, backup your entire Qooty. Just copy paste the Qooty folder somewhere, change its name to "copy of Qooty" or "Qooty backup". Whatever. But do it. Right before playing match one of the new round. Its simple, its effective, and you'll thank yourself for choosing to do it someday.

4. Forum-Friendly Data
Qooty was written a long time before messageboards. It originally didn't even have commentary files. But that was then, this is now. Commentary files are the basis for involving the community in the matches. Then there are the stat files.

The stat files used to be straight forward text files, but I'm starting to offer some alternatives. Where a year or so ago the simmer needed to go get the .xxS file and copy selected parts of it, paste that, add code tags, then go get the .xxG file and copy -paste that, there is now a better way.

I think v9.3 already has this, but its certainly in v9.4 - Its called the "Aftermatch" report. This enables you to get a "forum-friendly" after-match stats sheet. The same stuff simmers have been accessing and pasting for years, but now compiled into one cute file, with colours and stuff. Anything that makes the simming easier, is a yay.

There are some other tweaks, but these are the ones that have just come through, or are coming through with the next release.

Hope it all helps.

V9.3 probably in a week or so.

Cheers,

Kev
