Apparently there will be a story on 7 news sport about VB. He has declared himself ready to go. Fantastic news. Fingers crossed there are no more niggles and he's right for round 1.

Does his fracture still neee to fully break for his back to heal properly, sorry to be the one with the negativity but from what was said earlier, the nerve deadening was done so that he can be competitive again and with the realisation that at some point it will break and properly heal.

Great news just don't expect that he won't have some time out later in the year

Without going back to check, I'm pretty sure he would be in the same boat as Dangerfield was last year now. Seem to recall him returning to the side before it had fractured all the way through; I could be wrong.

Probably got ahead of myself there in the OP. Judging by the interview, round 1 is no ceertainty, just the fact that he pulled up fine after half a training session yesterday. Hopefully he will play by round 1 but the important thing is he is on the road back to recovery.

I remember Phil Harper saying a few weeks ago that he had no idea whether Nathan would be back in 3 weeks or 3 months so this is a big step for him.

I wonder if one can be "fit" when one has had a procedure to numb nerves in ones back so one doesn't feel pain? The real danger here is that pain serves a purpose. By playing with this injury, is he going to risk a longer term, potentially more serious problem? Backs are a bugger of a thing to risk I would think.

From what the AFC have been saying is that the only thing wrong is a fractured vertebrae and it needs to break through before it can heal properly. I think the reason for deadening the nerves is so he isn't hindered by the pain in the lead up to it breaking.

So to me it doesn't sound like a huge deal, if they have all the right boxes ticked. My trust lies with our medical staff for the time being.

There's a difference between being fully fit and having returned cautiously to training.

That's the way I see it.
