I've only made 1 sideways trade this year (with Ablett, as a lot of others did)..and you?
 
Swan. I'm obviously not venting at Swan but rather at the circumstances. I'm just glad I didn't have him captain, it seems I have really been blessed with good captain choices this year (touch wood). I chose Boyd over Ablett & Swan this week so hopefully he can have a great game. He really should outscore Swan....

Cloke. I didn't expect anymore than he provided tonight but after getting him at 470k he has been a thorough disappointment this year so I can't help but vent. I was going to keep him until his round 12 bye and then reassess but if Sexton is looking good in a couple of rounds I feel he is a great option for my bye structure and strategy.

Pretty poor start to the round for me considering I don't have Pendlebury, Selwood or Beams.
 
I have Cloke and don't understand the pre-occupation some have with getting him out. His price won't get much lower than it is now and you may as well hold onto him because we know he can rip out a big one. His average is disappointing but he should only be considered for a trade due to injury/suspension.

That's the last time that I mention this particular trade, I am like the schoolyard bully that just does not let up. :)

No offence, but if you don't think that Cloke will be a top 7 forward by the end of the year, cut your losses now! I did the same with Waite (for Beams) last week and have been much happier for it, score wise.

Dont care about Chappy's final score.. just frustrated at his constant slow starts! Just freaking warm up properly and get straight into please! :mad:

You cant just play 1 good quarter every week, cmon remember you were supposed to have a blinder this year after admittedly having a shit year last year.

Riewoldt's consistent 70's outside of the Gold Coast game made me think he wasn't going to be a premium, and his 81 average since then suggests I was right. Averages are misleading in this case anyway, Riewoldt has one high outlier of 126, without which his average is 78. Zaharakis has one low outlier of 47, without which his average is 94.

Anyway, his average over the whole season isn't relevant. What's relevant is what they would've scored for my side, and Zaharakis would've scored 310 at an average of 103.3 whereas Riewoldt would've scored 245 at an average of 81.7.

I don't regret trading Riewoldt at all, he's clearly not a premium this year. What I do regret is my choice of trade target, because Cloke is starting to look like a one season wonder.

You say this, yet you still have Riewoldt.

Trades are precious. There are often other areas of the team you can fix for a greater point gain. I imagine everyone has Buddy, and Sidey, Robbo and Beams have joined a lot of teams, so who else would you trade up to that makes it worth a trade?

Waite is a far different proposition than Cloke.

Edit - looking at the stats, Cloke is still at top 20 forward in spite of his indifferent form. I'd back him to improve or at least hold his place.

Im not usually around the computer/internet close to the start of lockout, but I was this week and saw that Smedts was a late inclusion.

I bought him on the starting field instead of Darley and he goes and does that...

damn it... not only that, but him playing made me decide to not trade this week rather then a double trade of Bugg and someone (cant remember) for Beams and Spurr.

All 5 of my leagues this week and eliminator are expected to be within 150 points or closer, if that costs me all of them I will be an angry panda...

I'll be trading NRoo out before his bye to a Rd 11 or 12 premo...who ever is averaging the highest at that time, that I don't already have. If he can keep up an 80+ average until then, I won't be complaining. :thumbsu:

I understand your point about having more pressing issues in your team but it isn't always the case.

Personally, I have 6 forward premiums including Cloke and don't have Beams yet so he is a very obvious option for me. I'll most likely trade someone else to Beams since I have the $ but the points gained from trading Cloke to Beams makes the trade a clear winner IMO. At this stage I don't really see another trade for my team where I can most likely make 20-25+ppg for about $120k.

If people are trading Cloke for a minimal points gain I would be inclined to agree with you.

I picked him hoping that he would average 95+ again. So my standards aren't low at all. Definitely not happy about his current average. If you recall I was going to trade him out the other week, but you talked me out of it, because he was vsing Clangermakers that week, remember?

But after a bit of thought it made more sense to hold him until his bye, then upgrade unless his average went up over 90 by then. Can't see that happening though, so if he can average 80 for the next 4 games, I'm not losing too many points by not trading him out now. since I'm short of trades already, may as well make sure that I get the right premium in for him when I do jump off. Can't afford to make any more risky selections with borderline premo's. Will pay top $ for the best available replacement for Rd13.
