So much for our collective excitement about Vezspremi's efforts last week, and the points in the POTY award, and the fact generally on this board it was agreed he was one of the few positives to come from last week and the previous few.

He's been dropped.

What an absolute joke!

THIS is the kind of thing that REALLY disturbs and irritates me about Sydney and Paul Roos.

Paul Roos, you are an idiot to drop such a promising youngster who was playing well, and for what???? What is the gain in dropping Vez. An exciting, energetic skillfull young swan. I am totally lost for words :thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

this has gotta hurt the kids mental game plan more than anything

its just not fair...once again how can we expect a kid who has showed so much talent to improve when all he can string together is a few games

Roos needs a serious slap over the head he just cant seem to stick to one thing

its not fair at all

what has the kid got to do to be re-selected.
Oh I know, lets bring in a player who is seriously out of form, gets run down and is simply superb at hacking the ball forward, with no vision whatso ever for whose arms it lands in. Great. Yep, that'll work.

i can't believe this!!! he played better than 95% of our team last week. i would rather see him play in the ruck then everit!!!

This never makes sense to me. Veszpremi was clearly the better players that night and by dropping him; it just beats logic. Leave the better players and drop the poor performers. :thumbsd:

Maybe he's tired and sore? He did a lot of leading as a forward target .. must be spent. Other than that, what reason is there to drop him?

Exactly! In my original post I was going to mention that Vez is out but Spida keeps his place, and suggest just what you said: I'd rather see Vez in ruck than Spida, as long as Vez is in the team somewhere.

So, we've dropped Vez, but Malceski, Goodes and Ablett are in. Two of them are physically struggling, the other is in the worst form of his career, but all three - PLUS spida - are preferred to Vez.

heckin'g unbelievable and totally defies logic and common sense!

I noticed him ignore Halls leads, he seemed slow in his decision making, mabee hes used to being the number one forward? Injured? I dunno, I thought he went all right though, the club knows what theyre doing and why, much better than all of us.

Toughen up guys, hes not a little puppy, alot here cant see past the romantic notion of a young bloke whos a supporters favourite being dropped! I like him too, but Im sure they have good reason!

i noticed that when he came off late in the game from a hit or being winded, he was sore for some time, and sucking in some deeeeeeeeep breaths (not that he wasn't when he did come off every other time, he was giving everything)

poor decision imo, after effectively conceeding our season is over, you would think he would of given more emphasis on youth

however alot of you guys are getting carried away with pat, in the last game he only picked up 8 disposals... he has shown glimpses of brilliance, but he's not a star just yet

Well, hardly. He's an 18 year old with below par stamina for the level he's playing at.. Looks like the winded/sore assumption was right, otherwise he'd be in the lineup this week.

pretty sure hes not winded anymore..

Settle down you lot. He went okay last week but hardly set the world alight.

Explain how he loses his place to Ablett?
In fact, explain how he lost his place ahead but Everitt kept his ... I KNOW they're not competing for the same position.

The fact is Vezspremi is part of our future, and our future surely starts now, now after we get punted out of the finals in week one, or during next pre-season, or sometime in 2009.

veszpremi = future

present day. ablett > veszpremi. like ssfc says, he doesn't look like he is physically with the seniors

veszpremi 181 cm against 200 cm ruck giants, don't think it will work

I'm not necessarily trying to justify him being dropped but I just thought a few posters were severely overrating his performance last week. He looks very good but obviously struggles to put 4 quaters, hell even 2 quaters of football together. As ssfc0203 rightly pointed out, his fitness is obviously still well below AFL standard. I gave up trying to get my head around Roos' selections some time ago so your guess is as good as mine. I would hope in Ablett's case that his inclusion is due to him overcoming his injury during the week off.

Lol, have you seen him on screen or running around in the two's? Pretty sure he's as smashed as he could be playing as he was. The bubble wrap came off and he was a true leading forward for parts of the game, and for someone whose fitness was deemed unsatisfactory only a month ago, he'd probably still be affected - not directly, though.

It'd need a full pre season before we see the best of Pat, unfortunately. Injuries really are a bitch sometimes.

Soph, You appear to be in the know, (Re; Goodes being rested) but obviously Paul Roos is not sharing everything with you..... ??
Perhaps this is Roosy's way of showing his displeasure at you not dusting the cobwebs off your old Paul Roos banner which has been thrown to the back of the cupboard ???

Roosy too has feelings !!!!

I have great respect for Roos and what he has done for the club but the last few months he just seems to have mixed everything up and doesnt know what do to he needs to stick with one plan of action insted of chopping and changing it

Soph, agreed. I think our injuries to key players has not only impacted on the playing group but Roosy as well. I, like you, hope that Roosy is only playing Ducks & Drakes and that Vespremi will be included in the final line-up vs Brisbane. Pat looks at this early stage to be a very promising, prospect and IMO I can see him being a future leader / captain of our club.
