...of the "What will happen next" kind...

SEN do them, now I'm watching the cricket, and Channel 9 are doing them.

"Will the two openers last until lunch?"

And 34% say no, but 66% say yes!

Now, I don't know if it's just me, but is there anything more ****ing pointless in the world?

Hmmm, 34% of people who I don't know, and will never meet, speculate that something, completely unpredictable in any objective sense, may happen, but 66% believe that this same event may NOT happen!

I mean, honestly, what's the ****ing point? What if they're right? What if they're wrong? Does it matter?

Does it help anyone understand the game better if a whole bunch of people are willing to pay to send a text message of their baseless predictions to someone else to see or hear it broadcast?

The stations make a buck, the telephone companies make a buck, but why on earth would anyone bother doing this?

The most useless new device for the communication of meaningless data since Twitter.

Yours

Cranky Old Man

PS Warner is out! The 34% were right!!!! Wow!

The Herald Sun have been using this technique for years. Says it all really.

I like to jump on the ninemsn websites homepage and try and vote against what I guess most would have voted for. Gets really easy when the questions are about refugee policy.

At least that kind of poll will give you some information i.e. how many listeners are rednecks.

These random prediction ones just perplex me; I think they actually leave me with less knowledge about the world

SEN do "Who will kick the first goal?" polls sometimes during the season, and people text in with their guesses..."Our poll results say 27% say Franklin, 13% say Jonathan Brown, etc etc"

What's the point? Who ****ing cares?

EDIT: As I speak, Channel 9 have a new one..."How many runs will Ed Cowan score?":rolleyes::rolleyes:

I loved how the poll updated live. It ebbed and flowed on our optimism or vice versa. Just crap.
