Why is anyone watching FTA?
I know, it amazes me. I don't watch FTA TV unless for the occasional football game. I don't listen to the radio. I don't read the advertiser (or any other newspapers). Hence, my exposure to the crows propaganda (and everything shit on TV/radio) is basically non-existent. I get my news online, I listen to Spotify or downloaded tunes, I watch Netflix or similar. I mean, getting your news from the 5 pm news show on FTA TV was probably OK in 1997, but there is no need for that now.

I think Andre's point was more "why doesn't everyone have Foxtel by now?".

I don't have Foxtel because, by and large, I think it's a waste of money, money I'd prefer to spend on other things.

I don't have foxtel either. I agree, waste of money. But my point that suffering the crows propaganda in FTA news is unnecessary I think is still valid.

I tried signing up to the Foxtel streaming service. My credit card was charged and I received a confirmation email with an account number in it. Tried logging in - account not recognised, email not recognised. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with their support team and they were absolutely clueless as to how to fix the problem. I told them to cancel my account and I won't be trying to use their service again. Having done a quick search online, it appears that this experience is quite common.

And they expect people not to download Game of Thrones illegally. lol.

We who live with others are subjected to FTA news and other content anyway plus my partner buys the 'tiser.

This may come as a shock to many, but it is possible to watch FTA TV without suffering the Crows' propaganda. I don't watch FTA "news" services because they are rubbish with or without any Crows' propaganda. My only extended exposure to commercial FTA TV is watching AFL games where I find the mute button very handy.

Full disclosure, I can afford Foxtel but choose not to.

Yes, same here. I don't watch FTA because I have not interest in it. Same with radio and newspapers. I don't do it to avoid the crows BS, that is just a bonus. However, when I see people complaining that 7 news this and the advertiser that, I can't help to think that their pain is mostly self-inflicted and unnecessary.

Full disclosure: I'm currently paying for Foxtel Now just to watch GOT.

It has been working fine for me.

As for the NBN, don't bother asking:mad::mad::mad:

Having seen this posted a lot by friends on Facebook, what is going on with NBN in SA?

I have Foxtel and have had it for years... how do I afford it you ask? Well, I have 3 box's - 1 is at my house, 1 is at my parents house and 1 is at my wifes parents house.

We then split the bill in thirds which results in us paying about $40 or so each/ month.

This works as long as everyone has either Cable OR Satellite connections - Foxtel have no way of ever know where the box physically is and as long as the bills are paid, they never will.

These days, there is a very good chance that a house that you rent or buy will have a connection from past occupants - if it does, find a mate that has foxtel, get an extra box "installed" into their house then after the tech has gone unscrew it and take it home with you... instant half price Foxtel!

Or get Foxte Play and shre the subscription, just like Netflix.

Problem is the footy still has the ads as they just broadcast the Seven version.

Putting aside our on-going frank discussions Telstra, there has been zero benefit in moving to the NBN. Same speed, often slower, so a complete waste. But we did receive a big shiny white modem:)

The sole reason we signed up was advice from Telstra that if people registered interest prior to the NBN being accesible in the area, the cost would be less than costs after availability.

Interesting. In Melbourne if you were in an NBN area, you couldn't get ADSL, you had to sign up to NBN.
