Basso finished first in the Giro and has hit the wall in the Tour.
Evans finished in the top ten in the Giro, and has hit the wall. Was going to hit the wall with or without his elbow.
Sastre finished in the top ten in the Giro, and has hit the wall.
Gerdemann finished 16th in the Giro, and has hit the wall.
Wiggins raced the Giro hard, and has hit the wall.

Vino finished 6th in the Giro and hasn't hit the wall. Featured in breakaways, won a stage, done a lot of climbing for his main man.

Excellent performance or ?????????

Got them blood bags me thinks, numerous breakaways and attacks. It seems the tour has gone soft on doping again. Chavanel,Aerts, vino, moreau are my main 3 suspects. Also I'm almost certain wiggins was on sometheing last year. In 08 I remember cancellara and voight were doing pacemaking quiet high up the climbs, this year cancellara cracks so easily.

Yeah - most the Saxo team were on something in 2008. Voigt, O'Grady, Cancellara etc - that was an exceptional team performance which would have been boosted by performance enhancers.

I was thinking about saxo in 08 but it also occured to me that there was literally no other strong team which made saxo's performances look better than they actually were.

I am a bit surprised the way that both Vino and Basso have come back from their bans. Both seem to be riding as well as ever so wither they didn't need to dope in the first place or they are still doping now.

Once a cheat, banned for life I reckon. Cycling is dogged by drugs controversy. The only way they fix it for good is if they get real tough

Yeah, Vino and Chavanel definitely on some sort of "medical program".

Don't think the tour has gone soft on doping, just think the chemists are currently a step ahead of the testers.

Happy with first offense being raised to 4 year ban, but there also needs to be a significant financial penalty as well. Fine them at least year's salary too and IMO this will have a bigger impact than increasing from 2-4 years.

The thing on Vino's side is he wasn't going for the win or overall in the Giro. More as a preparation for the TDF and get more racing kilometres under his leg. And he just finished high. Looking at the race, he did suffer a lot afterall.

A rider of his class should have 2-3 days of good racing in his legs over a whole tour.

And he did crack on a few stages.

It's funny how Schelck can ride 4-5 extremely strong days in the mountains yet escape any microscope being put over his performance.

He looked the most impressive rider in the high stages with his acceleration that at times Contador looked to struggle to match.

Yet all people say is wow he's awesome. Not wow, I wonder if he's on something?

spot on, I've been suspicious of the schlecks for a couple of years, recall it being reported a few years ago that frank schleck deposited an amount of $$$ into a known drug supplier doctors account, he somehow got off with no punishment :D but for mine that was all the confirmation i needed..... As for the Contaroid well, the less i say about him the better. Personally i find it farcical watching those 2.

It's that boyish grin of Andy's that makes everyone go awwww and create the persona he's infallible.

Where as Alberto's dark looks and mad spanish eyes give him the villain look.

Nothing to do with it! facepalm.gif.

Contador has been linked to Puerto, the spanish have a history of not caring about doping. That's why everyone is suss on him. That said the Schlecks are most likely not pure either but no evidence of note has been brought to light as of yet. Stop making silly posts. You can let it go knoe, r dub has been carded (no idea which of his rants got him the card though!)

Perception has a lot to do with a riders image.

People gush over Jens Voigt and have for years because Jens is a cheeky chap with a very affable knock about personality.

But if you look at how he's ridden over the years you might question has he ever been on something in that time.

The publics perception can give you leeway and excuse you from the same sort of criticism others will come in for.

You seem to be convininetly forgetting Frank Schleck was linked to Puerto too.

Which kind of supports my thoughts that perception is an important part of the game because you seemed to be suggesting they have never been linked to anything.

We need to remember how good Vino is.

It's just sad he went and wrecked his own reputation.

Exactly.

You can needle up a horse to win a race but if the horse is only average in the first place it'll still get beaten by the genuinely fast horses.

90% of the peleton are on something anyway. Only clean riders are probally a few of the wildcard teams, Footon, FDJ etc. Although even they have quite alot to gain by grabbing stage wins through their dopers. Casar, Le Mevel etc.

Yer was going to say Le Mevel was definently on it last year, perhaps not this year.

But still, I would tip more people are on the juice atleast for apart of their career than those that dont (If non-dopers exist in Pro cycling)

I have an admit something: I've taken EPO....
