I'm sure someone must have asked this before, but I have a big vinyl record collection and would like to record them onto CD. I have an iMac (500mhz).
I think D. Smith offer a turntable with a pre-amp, so I should be able to record to to my computer then burn a CD, right?

Does anyone know what software I need, and anything else I need to know?

does the 500mhz iMac have an audio line-in port? If so you should be able to record from the line out of any audio device.

As far as software goes, Toast Titanium has a utility bundled with it called CD Spin Doctor that will do the trick. If you want FREE software, try Spark ME - that will split up the tracks with a bit of work, drag the resulting AIFF files into iTunes and burn away. (This works happily in OSX, not sure if you are using OS9)

Dylan Smith is offering a turntable with pre-amp?!?

No wonder he's not getting a game in the firsts! No commitment (except to low low prices)
