It's that time of year again..... What anti virus software are people recommending this time round?

My free software runs out in 4 days.

go avg if you can get it for free

mcaffee is less power and resource hungry than the devil we know as nortons.

im using mcaffee and its not too bad.

for the best in security 1. kasperky 2. checkpoint zonealarm security suite 3. avg antivirus.

then again i never pay for these as we get full versions from reps at work.

dont know if zonealarm is for vista yet if thats what your after

I was using a free version of AVG from Grisoft, but as I am exclusively using linux (debian) at the moment it's not an issue for me. :)

McAfee is the industry leader as far as quality goes, but I've only used it in a business environment, so it might be a bit pricy for a home user.

Oh, and depending on your user requirements, you may want to look at virtual machines (e.g., vmware). It's no good for real-time applications like games and audio/video software, but otherwise may be an easy way to create a sandbox that you can easily quarantine.
