I hope he is ready to rock and roll by pre-season. I really believe he will be a Barlow type player in the future and hope we keep him.

But in reality, is it fair to assume this is likely to scare any potential suitors off, so increasing the chance he will stay with Freo?

Ross replied that Michie would be a favorite for the Sandover, and should be a priority to get re signed.

yeah, i reckon, although i think he'd be watched pretty closely by interstate scouts.

i would have been more surprised if he chose to go home at the end of the year (or if we chose to trade him), even before the latest injury, than if we were to re-sign him.

Torn cartilage in the knee isn't too bad, realistically Peel only has what.. 3 games left? So "season" is hardly a devastating career blow in this case. I've had 3 cartilage tears in the same knee and they generally take a month or so to get over, maybe a week or 2 more for intense running. He'll be fine.

To get less than five games next year and probably not be a genuine 22 until he's 24ish?

No harm if he goes. He's apparently torn about the decision and wants to do the right thing for Freo. But you can't have a go at the bloke either way.
