Let be preface this with saying that I know nothing about 2012's crop of players bar what I have read and watched from videos, blogs, mock drafts and other web sources.
The one question which seems to be on many lips is who is the best midfielder in this draft, especially who is the best inside midfielder. In particular, these two names frequently get thrown up.
On the Richmond boards, Vlastuin seems to be valued highly, much higher than Wines who has his detractors. But in other boards, Wines is rated higher. Posters like Chris, Knightmare and Quigley rate Wines higher, especially Quigley, who doesn’t rate Vlastuin that much, especially compared to other posters.
Thus, I'd just like to hear in general what people think, and hopefully through a poil we can get some data to help shed further light on the topic, and hopefully some people look rather foolish in 3-5 years time.
And yes, given Vlastuin is often linked to Richmond, this poll has some selfish motivations, but hey, Richmond might not pick up either, which would make it relevant to someone else. When mock drafts have both Wines and Vlastuin available to Richmond, it is generally suggested that Richmond should and would take Wines. I haven't included any other midfielders in this poll given most of the highly ranked midfielders are not inside midfielders, or not to the same extent as these, and are not quite comparable, and players like Toumpass and Whitfield seem to be ranked ahead of these two which would make this poll slightly irrelevant. I also was unwilling to include Stringer because I feared that it would be a thread of guessing about Stringer's injuries, and the extent of these. Wines and Vlastuin seem fairly comparable.
I'm not sure whether to ask who is more talented, who would you rather pick up, who will be better in five years time, questions which all exist on the same line of thought yet are slightly different. My question will then be: if you were a recruiter, and all things being equal, you had only a choice from these two players, who would you pick?
