Very promising I thought. Looked composed with the bat and fielded well.........obviously not in the side as a bowler!!
All in all, the dumbar*e selectors erred not playing him sooner.
Hussey should've bowled him self after all he did claim the wicket of the great Steve Waugh once http://aus.cricinfo.com/link_to_dat...OCAL/ING/SCORECARDS/WA_NSW_ING_21JAN2004.html

and couldn't have been worse than Watson, Johnson, Voges etc

I was quite impressed with him today. Took a huge catch, and a very important one at that, and tonked a few when he came in to bat. Didn't see a lot of him because he came in so late in the innings but a good prospect for sure.

He couldn't have been worse than himself?

Or for that matter a bloke who scored 68 and took 2 wickets. Watson did go for 8.8 an over, and Voges went for 11.

Yes, he was fairly impressive, and he looks like he will have quite a future, but why have another dig at Watson?

I think you will find that he was talking about Hussey, in that if Hussey had bowled he couldn't of been worse than Watson, Johnson n Co.

Wasn't intentionally having a dig at Watson. He's playing for Australia and I'm watching on Foxtel.....why would I be having a go at him?
Was just highlighting that today he was expensive and that Hussey probably wouldn't have been much worse. So just have a coke and a smile mate.....

The fact that Watson was out in the centre for the majority of the match was the reason he probably shouldn't have bowled a full 10 overs. He is one of the fittest players in the team, but to bat and perform as runner for such a long time and then bowl 10 overs has to take it out of you.

Surely you jest?

You are now using tiredness as an excuse for the pies he threw?

I am simply saying it may have been a contributing factor. Certainly not the only factor. The NZ batsmen were certainly part of it.

But why couldn't Hussey have bowled himself for a couple of overs? Everyone seems to think that Watson shouldn't bowl a full 10 because he is an all-rounder...so maybe in this case he shouldn't have.

Yet Watsons in as an all rounder. Voges was in for his batting alone.

He's got decent stats as a part-time spinner in the domestic comps and it was good to give him a go, still I think we should have tried Hodge in this series who can be an effective bowler as well.

Voges was given a bowl because he has been known to bowl a bit at domestic level. Obviously he was chosen as a batsman, but it was pretty much a certainty that he was going to bowl a bit.

Was the wrong ground to debut his bowling at international level... small and no chance of the ball spinning.

I'll have to assume that selectors and Ponting wanted to look at his bowling... only reason I can think of Hussey bowling him before Hoggy.
