Voice recording software ... limited time

Ok correct me if I'm stupid but I looked at the standard program that came with my computer, and I can only record through a microphone for a file length maximum of 60 seconds.

So I downloaded a try-b4-buy program ... 60 seconds.

Downloaded another ... 40 seconds.

Is there some Protocol that I haven't been made aware of? Who wants to record less than a minute through a microphone? What possible purpose could that serve?

That would be the there is no such thing as a free lunch protocol. I'll leave you to work out the purpose of that.

So you reckon that their free trial or free download restriction is that there is a limit to the total time per recording?

I'll pay that, though the original one that came with the PC still baffles me. My previous PC of 4 or 5 years ago had no such restriction.

At some point, Windows decided to limit Sound Recorder so that it would only record up to 60 seconds. No idea why.

Haven't looked at it, though - Soundblaster cards ship with software that records unlimited.

hmmm. Quick search on Download.com brings this up... check it out. Might work, might not: it's free, though.

I believe my old computer had soundblaster, dunno what my new one ships ... apart from cookies.

and download Total Recorder... (http://www.highcriteria.com)

i've used it to transfer minidisc recordings to pc...
i got ver.3.3... but i'm sure there are newer ones out by now...
if not, u can always download older versions...
