Volleyball - Who here plays it?

I keep finding people who play this fine sport. I know Mr Eagle plays it but who else does/used to? Big fan of it myself.

My old man tried to teach me how to play it, personally I found it to be a girly sport
Umm, my old man is a gun at it, got invited to try out for a Vic league team or something along those lines, but being 36-ish at the time he turned it down.

Played 20 years at club level in Adelaide, just play socially in Melbourne now. It was huge at the World Masters Games last year - we had a great time.

Nothing girly about it; very aggressive sport as well as enormously skilful and tactical.

Not quite volleyball, but at primary school we played a similar game called newcombe. We were the local gun school in that sport.

We played that at Primary School as well.

Tis only what people who cant hit a volleyball nor give it a shot say Get on court against the superleague men and we'll see who the real pansy is.

I played newcombe at primary school too - was the king of my team. Not too sure how you can describe the sport, use the volleyball court and net but instead of spiking the ball I think we had to peg the ball over the net.

heh I once remembered you could either throw the ball or hit the ball to serve. A mate of mine was mucking around and when he went to serve he absolutely WACKED the ball out of the court, down the hill, under this fence and over the road where the ball got ran over by a passing car

hehehehehe Coastal would gobble Bunsen up and spit him out! Though maybe our Hale boys need an extra player in U/18...

I played for a few years after school, and got ok at it (being able to jump helped heaps). I got a bit bored with it but because all i enjoyed doing was spiking and blocking, and as you go up grades all you get is bigger and bigger guys.......

Played competition Volleyball in my (much) younger days, but alas the knee gods and several years of excessive beer consumption have consigned me to being a fat couch potato.
Love the game though.
