What difference would that have made. None of the guys who were in contention deserved a vote today (unless of course you were handing out negative votes). Cousins would have been closest, and he only played one quarter.
Yeah well, unfortunately no other award in the world works like that. Should Grant Hackett not receive a gold medal for winning if he's 2 seconds behing his world record, and some clown form Japan (2 minutes behind) breaks the national record?Originally posted by Black Thunder
And larrikan - yes a lot of it comes down to expecting more than what Cuz gave us today. I don't know if he was in our top 5, would've been close purely on the third term, but in the end he was a guy who needed to give us much more and he didn't.... These votes will come from a mixture of how good someone plays, and how good they can play.

The best players on the ground should get votes, Cousins was in the best 5 (if not up tp his best)
Only played brilliantly in 1 and a half quaters, but was solid besides that. Good enough for the best 5 in a side that lost by 10 goals for me.Originally posted by Black Thunder
yes but human nature when it comes to pure judgement will always take into account how someone can perform. When it comes to something like swimming or somewhere were there's a scoreboard, you can't argue against that. but here we're talking about peoples judgement's and that "what are the capable of doing v what they actually did" will always came into it - human nature. We want to see the best in our players.
And also, I don't think you'd class Cousins in the best 5 on the ground as he really only played for one quarter......although that one quarter was brilliant.

You've just changed your argument. If you didn't think Cousins was in the best 5 for us on the field, I have n o problem with that. If you are not giving him a vote because he was in our best 5 and you think he can perform better, then there is my problem.Originally posted by Thrawn666
Thats your opinion and you're entitled to it
I however, dont believe Cousins was one of our best 5 players, and therefore have voted accordingly.
This whole award system is based purely on the individual's opinion. I often look at peoples votes and cringe, but the fact of the matter is it's their opinion.
It's fine to speculate on the way people vote, but to say theyre wrong just because you believe a particular player was deserving is no justification.
People watched the game of footy
People voted on who they felt deserved votes
Im sure you did the same. You think someone deserves a vote, fine, vote for em. But dont go around saying everyone is wrong who left him out because you didnt vote the same way.
