If that goal is where Browne lobbed to 15m out straight in front after taking a mark 55m out that was a beautifully executed set play, not a miskick. 3 carlton forwards led hard and created a "hole", and Browne weighted a kick beautifully to about 15m out for Fev to run on to with Fletch marking him from behind........nice play !
It just goes to show that two set of eyes can see the same thing completely differently.
The hole was there, but IMO Browne hit the ball poorly and was intending to kick to the contest.
Given the skills that were on display for the entire day I have great difficulty in believing we could have been so precise for this one passage of play. Fev reacted to a dying ball and was rewarded for being in front.
Well we see it very differently then! What was he supposed to do?
Give me effort. Instead of constantly allowing Fletcher to run to a contest and he stays back looking for the cheap kick, go and compete. So he did this all day did he......all his goals were cheap...ok then.
His first goal came about through a mis-kick, which forced him to lead into the space.......up til that point he was looking as I said......lazy and disinterested. That kick was perfectly placed by Browne, knowing exactly where Fev was.
He didn't do the discilpined things that bring his teamates into the game........hence......again........FFS AGAIN!!! smashing into Fisher and sending him from the fiel in the fourth when we needed both guys up and going.........lucky Fisher wasn't injured.Did you ever think Fisher was in the way....you know the hole that forwards should create for the full forward......and the fact Fev slipped anyway made it purely accidental, not deliberate!
As Ratts has said, Fev doesn't need to kick 7 to have had a good game. When he is chasing, pressuring, tackling and shepherding is when he is at his best.Yeh thats ok, and no doubt we all like to see that, but be rest assured a bloke kicking goals is also a big priority.....he has kicked bags this year and we have won those games too!
The rest comes easily enough.
Scarlett......Glass.......Rutten.........nope.........Fletcher.all great full-backs.....your opinion only to suit your argument!
Well I disagree. Fletcher hasn't been a dominant full back for years.
Did you wonder why they drafted Mal Michael? Mal Who???...most clubs have two KP backs.
Flecther is at his best when he is running at a contest as the loose man.......hence, my comment about Fev allowing him to do just that time and time again..........allowing Fletcher to spoil his teamates when he should be putting a body on Fletcher and blocking for his teammates..........do you understand? Carlton kicked the ball to Fletcher/Fevola contests 23 times from their 55 inside 50 entries, which is 1. telling me he must of been putting in some effort and 2. That Fletcher must have some ability too spoil in a contest.
If Fev kicks 7 and we only kick 10-12 we are ____ed. If he brings his teamates into it then we kick 17, and because his mates are kicking them, the pressure goes off Fev and he still gets his bags.We still kicked 15 yesterday.....Fev kicked his seven, how about bagging out the likes of Fisher who couldn't make the distance twice from set shots, Murp heckin'g up that goal when running into open goal, Betts attempted Soccer miracle when he could of grabbed it, Scotland missing from point blank range, Carazzo from 25 metres and Griggs two stuffed up attempts among others.......Fev kicked 7 - 1 and worked for his goals.
And I still wouldn't have changed my votes had we won.

Well we see it very differently then!
And by the way Fev looks disinterested at the best of times!

Still doesn't mean he can't improve on the things I mentioned.Does typing that in bold mean you were shouting it all, or is your keyboard stuffed?
For the record......to correct your misquting of me:
I judge Fev more harshly than Carrazzo or Bentick because he has more ability. Fev could be the biggest thing in the game and win us a flag if he does the little things as well as slotting them on the run from 50m on the boudary.
- I never said Fev got a single cheap goal. I said he failed to chase Fletcher to a number of contest right through the game. This hurt us particularly in the 4th Q. Watch it again and you'll see what I mean.
- Having watched the tape again I will concede the Browne kick. My view of it at the time was Fev reacted to a poor kick.......which was the way the MMM team called it, but on second viewing probably doesn't do the kick or Fev justice.
- Fev didn't slip into Fisher from 15m away......he was always going to make contact with him. Should have blocked Fletcher and allowed Fisher to mark. Selfish and dangerous play that left us a forward down for a while.
- You obviously miss my point on the next one. If Fev brings his teamates into the contest then the opposition have to honour them rather than just focus on Fev......which in turn eases the pressure on him. He will still get his bags. Two examples are the above one with Fisher - he should have blocked. Fisher may have marked at F50 and been able to spot up someone.....instead, turnover.......and the Eddie Betts kick with 2 mins to go. The kick had passed Fletcher as was going through, but Fev sticks the mit out to take a one handed mark, rather than block Flecther and shephear it through. Selfish in both cases. If you watched the game on T.V. you don't see Fev not chasing Fletcher to a contest, dropping off and allowing Fletcher to be uncontested many times.......this hurt us, especially late in the game.
- Most people give opinions to suit their arguement........isn't that what you have done too?
- If Carlton kicked 23 times to Fev and he only gets 7 goals......that proves Fletcher has some spoiling ability? See my above point about opinions..........but heres another.........if 23 of those kicks arrive on the full to the advantage side of Fev, Fev gets about 18 shot at goal and would kick around 14 in the form he was in. Ratts highlighted this post match, about kicking to the defenders advantage, not the forwards as a major issue.
- I have bagged Carrazzo for his first quarter costing us 4 goals and possibly the game. I have bagged Murph for his poor disposal, I have had a dig at Cloke............are you aware that I actually gave Fev 1 vote? Meaning I think he was our third best player?
Still doesn't mean he can't improve on the things I mentioned.
If Fev lifts his game to where i think he can, we could be unstoppable.............that and get a good ruckman.![]()
