Well, there were a few upsets, close games and the inevitable rolling on of the Claremont machine in Round 3. Round 4 looks as in the balance as the previous round. Then there is Swans flying the WAFL flag in the Foxtel Cup against a Peter German led Williamstown, as a precursor to the Eagles match. All matches are Saturday arvo this week.
Peel v Sowfs
Peel didn't cop as big a hiding as most predicted and Souths were beaten by the Dees. A Callum Wilson shot at goal may well shoot across the road at Anniversary Park, Rockingham, in this match. This game is also the inaugural Gary Holland Cup between these 2 teams.
Peel still have their AFL listed players on board and will want to make good use of them. They have some tall timber up forward, and across the ground. The Thornton brothers were good last week, Butcher looked to get a lot of the ball and they have some good rebound out of defence with McFarlane and Wilson.
The dogs have dropped one they probably expected to win last week, no disrespect Perth, and should be on the angry pills and back on the track hard this week. McGrath, Miller, Head, Thornton and Murphy will need to lead from the front. Dell-olio, Adams, Hams, Guglielmana, North et al will need to give them their run.
Should be a tight contest early but Sowfs should prevail.

Sharks v Falcons
Well, the Sharks lost a game I didn't think they'd lose, but I put that down to mental issues against the Lions, something the Falcons have never had, even when the rest of the comp struggled against the might of the Lions.
The Sharks have a very, very solid back half, a very good running brigade but haven't found answers up forward, IMO. Howlett, however, may change that a bit. Was a good, solid focal point for the Royals last year, but did have a fair bit around him there. I mean, if you look at the forward 6, Howlett is the ONLY one that stands out as a forward, the rest are runners, IMO, so where is Ricciardello, that crossed from the Dogs?
The Falcons also have a very good running brigade, plus LeCras, Zanetti (after re-inventing himself) and Gobbels (who provides a good contest) up forward. Hutchings had a heap of the ball last week and will need to be watched, Slick is back and can do anything on his day.
All in all there seems to be more variety and hurt in the Falcons team, so why do I think the Sharks might get up?

Royals v Tigers
The Royals scraped home against the reigning VFL Premiers in the Foxtel Cup last weekend whilst the Tigers only utilised half rat power to dispose of the Thunder, but this should be an entertaining match.
The Royals are looking hungry this year and their bevy of recruits are starting to perform pretty well. I suspect they'll try and stretch the Monts with height, but the tiges have brought an extended bench of about 35, all who could play league with any of the WAFL clubs. Run is the key against the tiges and defensive run at that. Wulff is one key, the man just keeps running and popping up on his own all over the field. Seal is starting the season with a bang and Lee is continuing on from a very good second half of last season, then there is Pettifer, Prior and Polak to worry about forward. Now all that sounds ominous, unless you're the Tigers.
They have Thomson coming in for the loss of McKenzie to the Eagles, plus Handley is out, but in comes Laurie, or Murphy and then Ruck is out, but in comes Derrickx. Browne will probably run with Wulff, Blackwell will need to be curtailed, Brabazon, Foster, Stevenson should then have their time in the sun.
This shapes as a good match, just not sure about the Royals ability to run with the Tiges, but will be a cracker.

Demons v Lions
This is the sort of game the Dees usually lose, due mainly to the Lions mental stranglehold over them, IMO. Let's see if McMahon can get them up. Waterman seems to be getting a bit more out of the Lions this year and they certainly had a better pre-season I hear, so this should make an interesting match.
The Demons seem to have some decent depth, especially if DeJongh can only make it to the emergency list. Hodge and Smith give some good run from the back, whilst O'Sullivan, K-T and Young(s) you know will knock up getting the ball. White is probably still finding his feet and will provide a good focal point up forward.
The Lions seem to have more run in their legs this year. Anthony will be wondering why he came to Freo
, but that's a bonus for Subi. Cockie and Bristow fully fit are another bonus, plus Bloxsidge looks OK and young Kerr keeps developing. Hughes up forward looks lively and is also probably still finding his feet and we all know what a work horse Broadhurst is.
Should be another bottler, let's hope so.

the game will be played to honour the memory of Gary Holland, who served as the CEO of the City of Rockingham, was a Peel Thunder Football Club Director and also a South Fremantle member.
