Brownlow Medallist
Well, Claremont are out in front again, leading from West Perth, Souths and Perth. Swans avoid the bottom spot by just 15%.
Appears as though the last of the hot weather will hit us on Saturday for all games.
Swans v Sowfs
The Bulldogs have a good overall record at Basso Oval, but Swans should be desperate to register a win, just one for the season would be good.
Some extra spice is added to this game with Kyle Hams making his WAFL debut for Swans this week.
Swans have seemed to go into matches too tall, IMO, so far this season and I said all pre-season we had too many talls and the balance would be hard to find. Then they went and recruited Kyle Hams, which should provide some added run and balance. However, a few of the premiership players need to extract the digit and get fair dinkum, IMHO.
The Bulldogs suffered a shock loss to the Dees so will be keen to rebound. Hasleby plays his first game after selling his soul and the Graham v Spaanders match up should be a beauty. The run of Miller, Dell-oilo, Cook, Guglielmana, North, Adams, A Hams, White will need to be curtailed.
Then you have Wilson, McCarrey and Mugumbwa to contend with.
Should be an entertaining match and my heart hopes like hell it's the black ducks but my head says otherwise.

Demons v Thunder
In contests past, this would be considered the who cares cup. However, the Dees are off to a very good start and can consolidate this with a win on Saturday, whilst the Thunder have been fairly competitive, well moreso than last year.
The Dees seem to have the balance of their squad right and have retained or acquired the right players, players that want to play for the club. Citizen Kane is out though, so I presume injured as I rated him when he was at the Royals. Look forward to seeing young Elari and Florio develop and blossom as well. Lang will be a welcome inclusion, I suspect, as well as the pair of Whites.
The Thunder have primarily stuck with local products and they must know this will take some time to work. Of course they have a healthy sprinkling of AFL listed players to go with the local lads. Butcher seems to have started the season well and I'd like to see Devin McFarlane get some good games under his belt, using that lovely left boot. The Thornton clan seem to be providing some good impetus at Peel as well.
Should be a good match, I suspect, but I think the Dees will get the job done in the end.

Lions v Tigers
The old western suburbs rivals have first crack at each other for season 2011. There's been some improvement in the Lions, I feel, which gives them half a chance against the Tiges, however, you can be sure neither team comes out half prepared for these clashes.
The Lions have got some support around their tyro Broadhurst. Anthony and Hughes have been welcome additions, Cockie looks really fit and firing, Bristow, well I've always maintained a fit brisket makes a heck of a difference to the Lions.
The Tigers lose Swift and Broome (injured?) but the replacements, well, they're staggering. Murphy, Orzel and Handley, to name a couple. Blackwell and Mitchell in the middle are a handfull for any team, then Foster, Brabazon, Richardson, Browne, Orzel, Rudeforth.....
You need to run, run, run like the gingerbread man.
Tigers should win comfortably.

Falcons v Royals
Should be MOTR this game, with no love lost for each other. Billy has the Falcons flying, whilst the Royals have spluttered after a good first up win against the Swans. More spice is added with Hutchings and Smith facing their old teams.
The Falcons game plan is somewhat similar to the Tigers, except they're more combative, IMO. Hutchings in and under style adds to the Falcons, in this respect. Along with Salecic, Rice, Bartholomew, Fleay, Burns, Bewick, Tsalikis, Shadbolt, they run all day and run hard.
The Royals have a similar, taller game plan to Swans, IMO. The problem with this game plan is when the ball hits the ground, you've got to run. We all know that Wulff, in particular, Sweet, Travers, Seal, Lee, Swan, Moss and Clutterbuck will all run, but can Polak, Pettifer, Smith, Clarke, Derrickx and Shepheard stretch the Falcons enough? Time will tell.
Should be a cracking match this one, but I'm going against my better judgement of the Falcons winning and think the Royals will just pip them.
