Well, we have 3 teams in the top 4 that are different from the past couple of years. Should make it at least a bit more interesting for people.

East Freo play East Perth in the first semi-final on Sunday, whilst the Tigers take on the Swans in the second semi.

Sharks v Royals - I think the Royals have the wood over the Sharks this year and if Shuey is allowed to play, well, I'd be backing the Royals. However, the Sharks have been made of sterner stuff this year, although losing 5/6 in a row in the middle stages they bounced back with important wins over last years' 2 grand finalists. The Royals, on the other hand, had to win 6 in a row and beat the Tigers in the final game to ensure a continuation into September action.

Keys: Sharks - midfield and defense are quite good, forwards are what the Sharks lacked a lot of the year, so will be important in the finals.

Keys: Royals - forward and defense are reasonably strong for the Royals, but where they lack the most depth is the midfield. Their front liners are very good, albeit aging, it's the backups behind them.

Game breaker - Cripps, Stevens or Dunn for the Sharks or JON, McKinley, Clarke or Prior for the Royals.

Who's going to win and why? Sharks, because they have homeground advantage and should have midfield dominance, especially if Masten and Palmer have qualified and Spangher back for the defense will go some way to quelling Prior's influence.

Tigers v Swans - on a fine Sunday afternoon, with a fast track, it's going to be a cracker! One win, a draw and a loss against each other this year suggests this will be an almighty battle, with a ticket straight through to the GF for the winner. Will Swans greater finals experience come into play?

Keys: Tigers - midfield pace and playing on at all costs. Run, run, run and supporting each other. Evenness of the team is paramount for the Tigers, especially as they have no real notable key forward, bar Richardson, left. Stop supply to Swans forwards from the midfield.

Keys: Swans - defensive pressure is the buzzword against Claremonts style of play. Make them accountable when they don't have the ball, rather than just let them run forward. Big forwards - Swans have 3-4 that have to be stopped, if the ball gets down there.

Game breakers: Ninyette, Neates, Swift for the Tigers and Krakouer, Hansen, Geappen for Swans.

Who will win and why? Swans have the experience and harder bodies, IMO, and have implemented the game plan to stop the Tigers earlier in the season, so have the discipline to carry it out.
Others are welcome to add their reasons as to who will win and why to these pages!:thumbsu:

Bring on the finals - 20 years in the waiting, hopefully it stops here!:)

Those pretenders from bassendean will be no match for the migthy tigers!!!

Claremont are too quick and too classy in the middle.

Simon starling could be the player who decides the game IMO

Carn the tiges!!!
I can't wait. Finals footy back at Claremont oval where it belongs

Crap oval with crap facilities and no crowd (except the 'guys' who arrive in their sailing shorts and boat shoes) although that will change this weekend when the Black and White army arrive en mass.

Come on easts(the proper easts that is), been waiting 8 years for a final.

I think our midfield should be able to out do the royals' which will obviously go along way to winning the game.

I really can't see any of todays games being over 1K due to obvious reasons.

In a lazy ass attempt I like the swans at the line at 24.5+ here againist the tigers. Tigers should still win @ $1.19 but if you like the Swans for a shock win with Hansen to show what he is made of they are a impressive $4.10.

Flip of the coin I believe it is with the east perth and east fremantle game. East perth $1.68 compared to East Fremantle who have a couple of AFL players back at $2.05.

I expect this game to be tight and it shows at the line with it being at 5.5 (-/+) each way.

I like the heart shown by East Perth and this strong heart should see them get over the line in a tight match.
