Round Nine produced some good matches with a couple of close games that weren't decided until well into the final quarter. From a tipping perspective, scores ranged from three to five this week with a group of tipsters getting all five games correct on the weekend. The bonus point was shared this week with TheInjuryFactory and Falconista both selecting margins one point either side of Subiaco's winning margin of 28 points thus they receive one point each which sees both finish the round with a score of five points.

With nine rounds complete, andana and AsterixTheGaul are tied for the lead on 31 points and there's a chasing pack of five posters one point behind on 30 points.

Round 10 Fixtures

East Fremantle vs Peel Thunder at WACA (2:10pm, margin)
Swan Districts vs Subiaco at Steel Blue Oval (2:10pm)
East Perth vs Claremont at Leederville Oval (2:10pm)
Perth vs West Perth at Mineral Resources Park (2:10pm)
West Coast Eagles vs South Fremantle at Mineral Resources Park (5pm)

Round 10 is approaching with five games this week, four afternoon games and a twilight game which is part of a double header at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday. Swan Districts face Subiaco at Steel Blue Oval in the second of four afternoon games on Saturday, Swans travelled to Joondalup to take on West Perth last week and stuck with the Falcons for pretty much the entire game, trailing by a goal at half time, 13 points at half time before holding West Perth scoreless in the third term to close to within 11 points. Two goals to one in favour of the Falcons closed the game out as Swans went down by 18 points having been within a goal early in the last term. Subiaco went to Perth Stadium to battle the West Coast Eagles' WAFL team in the curtain raiser to the AFL game in the afternoon. Subiaco started the better side in the opening term but the Eagles fought back in the second stanza to cut the margin slightly at the main break. The Lions' accuracy in front of goal was pivotal in the second half, kicking 7.3 to 4.8 after starting with 7.3 to 4.6 in the opening two terms to come away with a 28 point victory. This match should prove to be an interesting one with both clubs sitting sixth and seventh respectively, victory will see either side inch closer to the top five and could find themselves inside the five should results fall their way.

East Perth host Claremont in the round's next match at Leederville Oval. The Royals started relatively well against Peel Thunder last week with an even opening term producing a margin of just one point at quarter time. From then on, Peel Thunder were the dominant side, kicking 15 goals to four to hand the Royals a 65 point belting. Claremont meanwhile tackled East Fremantle last week in the match of the round with the contest an even affair all day. Both clubs burst out of the blocks with six goals each before kicking four goals across the next two terms as the Sharks held a four point lead with one term to play. The Tigers had other ideas though with four final term goals sealing an important win and helping Claremont rise to second place on the ladder. At 3-6, East Perth will be looking to turn things around having lost four of their last five games while Claremont will be aiming to maintain their top two spot with several other clubs snapping at their heels behind them.

Perth lock horns with West Perth in the first of two matches at Mineral Resources Park on Saturday with this fixture being in the afternoon. The Demons travelled to Fremantle for a meeting with South Fremantle last week and started brightly, leading by nine point at quarter time having kicked 3.3 in the opening term. The Demons however would only kick 3.6 for the remainder of the game including being goalless in the second stanza as the Bulldogs booted 6.6 to turn the game around completely. The second half was more of an arm wrestle but the Bulldogs had the better of the last term to hand the Demons a 39 point loss. Perth's opponent on Saturday is the top of the ladder West Perth who shook off Swan Districts late in the final term to record an 18 point victory. The win was West Perth's seventh this season and one which saw them move back to top spot on the ladder, something they'll be keen to hold come the end of the round with several sides behind them looking to take their position.

The final match of Round Nine is the second game of the Mineral Resources Park double header with West Coast Eagles hosting South Fremantle in a twilight fixture at 5pm. The Eagles played host to Subiaco last week at Perth Stadium as the curtain raiser for the AFL game that afternoon. The Eagles began a little slowly but broke even with Subiaco in the second term and could have been closer had it not been for some wayward kicking at goal. That trend continued in the second half with the Eagles having a number of chances but failing to capitalise as they kicked 8.14 on the day, falling 28 points short of Subiaco's total of 14.6. South Fremantle meanwhile faced Perth last weekend and were caught out by the Demons who looked the goods as they held a nine point at the opening break. That only kicked South Fremantle into gear though with the Dogs booting six goals in the second term before another four in the second half saw them claim a handy 39 point win. With the Eagles set to get back several players from injury in both of their sides, their WAFL team should be stronger this weekend for their battle with Souths in this twilight match.

Unfortunately there is no TV game this week so the margin match for Round 10 is the round's opening fixture between East Fremantle and Peel Thunder at the WACA on Saturday afternoon which is arguably the match of the round for this week. East Fremantle have another game at home, their third in a row having come off a loss last week to Claremont in what was a very good game. Both sides started the game quickly with six goals each in the first term before each side kicked four goals across the next two quarters as the Sharks held a slender four point lead at the final break. Unfortunately for the Sharks, they kicked just one goal in the final term with Claremont's four consigning Old Easts to a 16 point defeat. Peel Thunder seemed as if they'd have a battle on their hands last week against East Perth with the Royals matching the Thunder early as Peel held a one point lead at quarter time. From there, the Thunder dominated and helped by their AFL listed players, they proved to be too good for the Royals and claimed a 65 point win, breaking their way back into the top five. This match is a big one and the only one to feature two top five teams this week, East Fremantle's loss saw them slip to fourth after being first heading into Round Nine and are one game off the top two while the Thunder sit fifth and victory could very well see them overtake the Sharks come the end of the round.

No changes in the Reserves and Colts this week with all Reserves game beginning at 11:40am while all four Colts' matches will start at 9:10am.

The last couple of weeks have been moderately wet but the weekend is looking good at this stage with sunny conditions expected. Saturday is forecast to be mostly sunny and 19 degrees at this stage, if you're around for the early games on the day then you may need some warmer clothes with a minimum of seven degrees overnight.

Well, the season keeps on rolling with some good matches again this week. The weather is looking great too after a couple of wet weekends so hopefully we'll see some super matches on Saturday. Happy tipping!!

Freezin was the top tipster this week with four and was the only tipster to collect four points for the round. The bonus point went to andana who was spot on with East Fremantle's winning margin of 11 points which takes him to three points for the round.

With 10 rounds complete, Freezin has joined andana and AsterixTheGaul in the lead on 33 points in a three way tie while getgaff and Monocle are tied for outright fourth on 32 points.

Enjoy the week off too Ljp86 :thumbsu:

Round 11 was a general bye which left the weekend open for the WAFLW competition to host its Grand Finals in all three grades on Saturday.

East Fremantle took on Peel Thunder in the Rogers Cup (Colts) to begin the day and recorded a comfortable victory over the Thunder with a 61 point win. The Sharks kicked three goals in the first term and four in the second while the Thunder managed only two in the opening half as Old Easts took a handy 30 point at half time. The second half was much the same as the first as the Sharks kicked five goals while keeping Peel goalless to claim the Rogers Cup for 2022.

Next up was the Reserves which was the first of two games between East Fremantle and Claremont on Saturday. In a very low scoring affair, East Fremantle kicked three goals to one across the opening three terms which saw them hold a 14 point lead at three quarter time, a nice lead in a game which had seen just four goals to that that point. The Tigers kicked just one behind in the final term but the Sharks managed only 1.0 which saw the Tigers claim the WAFLW Reserves premiership by nine points and was East Fremantle second consecutive defeat in the Reserves' Grand Final.

The League match was the second of two encounters between East Fremantle and Claremont on Saturday afternoon. Neither side could be separated at quarter time with 2.0 each with the gap just one point in favour of the Tigers at half time with both sides again kicking two goals in a hard fought game. The Tigers then took the advantage in the third term with two goals to one giving them a seven point lead going into the final quarter, a handy gap in a low scoring game. The final term saw Claremont kick the opening goal as the margin was pushed out to 15 points, Old Easts responded with a goal but that was as close as they got with the Tigers winning by eight points to claim their maiden WAFLW premiership and hand the Sharks their only defeat of the season having previously gone through the season undefeated to that point.

Round 12 Fixtures (NAIDOC Round)

Swan Districts vs Perth at Steel Blue Oval (1:40pm, margin)
Claremont vs South Fremantle at Revo Fitness Stadium (2:10pm)
Subiaco vs East Fremantle at Leederville Oval (2:10pm)
West Coast Eagles vs East Perth at Mineral Resources Park (2:10pm)
West Perth vs Peel Thunder at Pentanet Stadium (2:10pm)

After a general bye, Round 12 is fast approaching with five games this week, all on Saturday afternoon with one earlier starting match. Claremont play host to South Fremantle in what is probably the Match of the Round in the first of four 2:10pm games on Saturday. Claremont faced up to East Perth in their most recent fixture at Leederville Oval which saw the Tigers start well to hold a nine point lead at the opening change before the Royals turned the tables to lead by four points after a three goals to one second term. Claremont were held goalless in the third term as the Royals piled on four goals to take the ascendency in the contest. The Tigers kicked two goals in the last term while the Royals managed one as Claremont fell to an upset 26 point defeat. The Tigers will be keen to turn the tables with South Fremantle coming to town who also had a loss in their last start to the previously winless West Coast Eagles WAFL side. With several AFL players returning from injury, the Eagles proved to be far too good for the Bulldogs as Souths suffered a 41 point loss which included going scoreless in the third quarter and kicking just one goal in the opening term. This match will have big connotations on the ladder with each side third and fourth respectively so both clubs will be looking to turn things around on Saturday afternoon.

Next up has Subiaco taking on East Fremantle at Leederville Oval. Subiaco travelled to Bassendean to play against Swan Districts last week which produced an even start to the game with the Lions holding the lead by a point at the first change. The second quarter was also a tight affair, Swans managed three goals while Subiaco's 2.6 could have seen them with a good lead at half time if not for some errant kicking at goal. The second half however belonged to Swan Districts as they kicked six goals in the third term while keeping Subiaco scoreless before another four goals in the last term from the Black and Whites saw the Lions lose by 51 points and drop back to eighth place on the ladder. East Fremantle tackled Peel Thunder last week in a topsy-turvy encounter, the Sharks started the game well to hold a nine point lead at the first break but Peel booted seven goals in the second term to seize a 15 point buffer at half time. Old Easts regained the lead in the third term with two goals while keeping Peel goalless to set up a classic last term. The Thunder kicked two goals early in the quarter to take the lead back but the Sharks kicked the next four majors with their last goal at the 27 and a half minute mark sealing the win. Peel responded soon after with a late goal but the Sharks got home by 11 points.

West Coast Eagles face East Perth at Mineral Resources Park in Lathlain which is the third of the 2:10pm matches. The Eagles notched their first win of the season last week with a number of AFL listed players coming into the side to overpower South Fremantle by 41 points which included keep the Bulldogs scoreless during the third term. Some injuries to AFL listed players could affect the side the Eagles put out this week but it shouldn't affect them too much as they take on East Perth who scored an upset win over Claremont in their match before the bye. The game was a relatively tight encounter early with both clubs enjoying periods of dominance but the Royals turned up the heat in the third quarter, kicking four goals while keeping the Tigers goalless. The last term was more of a tight affair but the Royals had done enough by then to secure a 26 point victory. This game should be a good one I think with the Eagles now having more players to choose from in their WAFL side while the Royals will have gained a lot of confidence having upset the Tigers in Round 10.

The final game of the round sees West Perth battle Peel Thunder at Pentanet Stadium in Joondalup on Saturday afternoon. West Perth took on Perth last week and looked impressive, holding the Demons goalless in the first two quarters while booting six goals themselves to set up the game nicely in the first half. The third term saw the Demons fight back with six goals while West Perth kicked four as the Dees cut the lead back to 22 points with one term to play. However, the last quarter was all West Perth as they kicked seven goals while Perth registered only one as the Falcons raced to a 61 point win. Peel Thunder came up against East Fremantle last week in what was a great game. Peel started the slower of the two sides but booted seven goals in the second term to rocket right back into the game and hold a 15 point lead at half time. Old Easts turned the tables once again, kicking 2.4 while holding the Thunder goalless to set up a grandstand finish leading by just two points. The Thunder came out firing early, kicking two quick goals but the Sharks kicked four consecutive majors to seal the game despite a late consolation goal for the Thunder which saw the final margin finish at 11 points. Another good game awaits here, West Perth sit top of the ladder while Peel are sixth and are one game outside the top five but have a better percentage than the three sides directly above them in what is a big game for both clubs.

The TV game this week and therefore our margin match is the early fixture between Swan Districts and Perth at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean. Swan Districts hosted Subiaco last week with the game being an even affair in the first half as Swans trailed by one point at both quarter time and half time in the game although the margin could be have higher as a result of Subiaco booting 5.9 in the first half to Swans' 6.2. The second half saw Swan Districts take control with six unanswered goals in the third term seeing the Black and Whites race to a 37 point lead at the last break. A further four goals helped Swans to a 51 point win and back into fifth spot on the ladder. Perth locked horns with West Perth last week and started the game poorly, kicking nine behinds in the opening half while the Falcons managed 6.4 to take a 31 point lead despite only having one more scoring shot. The Demons roared back into the game in the third term with six goals while the Falcons managed four as the lead was cut to 22 point at three quarter time. Unfortunately for Perth, they could manage only one goal in the last quarter while the Falcons booted seven to hand the Demons a 61 point defeat. The telecast of this game begins on 7mate at 1:30pm with bouncedown scheduled for 1:40pm with this match leading into the AFL coverage later in the afternoon.

There's some minor changes in the Reserves and Colts this week. The Reserves game for Swan Districts vs Perth begins at the earlier timeslot of 10:50am with Subiaco vs East Fremantle starting at 11:30am while the final two games will begin at 11:40am. In the Colts, Swan Districts vs Perth have a very early start at 8:20am, Subiaco face East Fremantle at 9am with the other two Colts' fixtures beginning at 9:10am.

The weather on Saturday is going to be pretty wet with showers expected to arrive in the afternoon and continue into the evening. A maximum of 23 degrees is expected with 15-25mm of rain predicted at this stage.

Good to be back into the swing of things after the bye with the second half of the season set to commence. There's some good games this week with some interesting match-ups so that should hopefully produce some good footy over the weekend in what should be another hotly contested round. Happy tipping!!
