Every 4-5 years the Commission redefine the boundaries - both city and country.
Kids who live inside these zones are bound to that WAFL club for playing and drafting payment purposes.
I think they did the last redraw after a long and boozy lunch as there has been a continuing number of bunfights. It was a poor effort.

I grew up in Claremont's country zone, which is the reason I started barracking for Claremont. I figured that if I was going to grow up and play football one day, I might as well support the team I was going to play for.
Such was the logic of my seven-year-old thinking.

I found the official zonings in the WAFL rule book but man are they confusing.
Not as clear cut as some of the clubs sites would have you believe.
Follow this road north to its intersection with this street then follow it south until it dissects another street at a perpendicuarlish angle.
Had me very confused and I am still unsure which zone I fall under.

There is plenty of cases in the Perth metro area that if you live one side of a road you are zoned for one club, while if you live on the opposite side of the same road you are zoned to another club..

Northern boundary: River from western boundary of the Town of East Fremantle to the juncture of the Canning River and the northern extension of Duff Rd.
Eastern boundary: From the juncture of the Canning River and the northern extension of Duff Rd south along Duff Rd to its juncture with the northern boundary of the locality of Parkwood. Including the locality of Parkwood by following High Rd and Willeri Drive and then the southern border of the locality of Parkwood to its intersection with Nicholson Rd. Then south along Nicholson Road and its continuation to Garden Street. The eastern boundary then continues south along Warton road to its junction with the City of Armadale.
Southern Boundary: From the intersection of Warton Road and the City of Armadale follow the boundary of the City of Armadale to its juncture with the City of Cockburn. Follow the northern boundary of the City of Cockburn west to the Kwinana Freeway. Follow the Kwinana Freeway north to South Street then west along South Street to Murdoch Drive. North along Murdoch Drive and then west along Leach Highway to take in the localities of Kardinya and Winthrop. Follow the eastern border of the locality of Winthrop south along North Lake Rd to its junction with Garling St. Follow Garling St west and then along the northern boundary of the City of Fremantle to the Swan River.
East Perth Football Club
Western boundary: Mitchell Freeway from the Swan River to Scarborough Beach Rd. West along Scarborough Beach Rd to its junction with the locality of Joondanna. Follow the western and then northern aspects of the border of the locality of Joondanna to its intersection with Wanneroo Rd. Follow Wanneroo Road north along to Gnangara Road.
Northern boundary: Gnangara Road from Wanneroo Road to Lord Street.
Eastern boundary: South along Lord Street from Gnangara Road following the locality of Whiteman boundary to the boundary of West Swan. Follow this boundary as it progresses west and its continuation with the boundary of the locality of Beechboro. From its intersection with the border of the locality of Beechboro follow Beechboro Rd North, south to Benara Rd. Follow Benara Rd east to its intersection with the eastern border of the city of Bayswater. Follow this eastern boundary south to Railway Pde and then across to the Tonkin Highway. Follow the Tonkin Hwy. to the Swan River.
Southern boundary: Swan River west to the Narrows Bridge.

Northern boundary: The southern bank of the Swan River between the Narrows Bridge and the north boundary of the City of Belmont.
Eastern boundary: Follow the North East boundary of the City of Belmont and City of Canning south to its juncture with the City of Gosnells north east boundary. Continue south along this border to its juncture with the City of Armadale.
Southern boundary: From the eastern juncture of the City of Gosnells and the City of Armadale, west along the southern boundary of the City of Gosnells until its juncture with Warton Road.
Western boundary: North East along Warton Road from its juncture with the City of Armadale to its intersection with Garden Street. North West along the southern border of Huntingdale along Garden Street and its continuation, Nicholson Road. From Nicholson Rd follow the southern border of the locality of Parkwood and then its western border following Willeri Drive. Continue along the northern border of the locality of Parkwood to Duff Rd and the north along Duff Rd to the Swan River.

Western boundary: Indian Ocean coastline from the northern boundary of the City of Bunbury to the southern boundary of the Town of Kwinana.
Northern boundary: From the coast along the southern boundary of the Town of Kwinana to the juncture of the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and the Town of Kwinana. South along the common border of the City of Rockingham and the shire of Serpentine/Jarrahdale and then east along the northern boundary of the Shire of Murray.
Eastern boundary: South along the eastern border of the Shires of Murray, Waroona, Harvey, Collie and Donnybrook/Balingyup.
Southern boundary: The southern boundary of the Shires of Collie, Donnybrook and Balingyup, Dardanup and the northern border of the City of Bunbury to the coast.
South Fremantle Football Club
Western boundary: The southern portion of the land north of the Swan river from the western extension of Tydeman Rd and its eastern continuation, John Street. On the south side of the Swan river the boundary follows the Indian Ocean Coastline from the Swan River junction with the City of Fremantle to the southern border of the Town of Kwinana, east along the southern border of the town of Kwinana and then south along the common border of the City of Rockingham and the shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.
Northern boundary: From the junction of the Swan river and the northern border of the City of Fremantle along the northern border of the City of Fremantle to Garling Road. Along Garling Road following the northern border of the locality of Kardinya, north along North Lake Rd to Leach Highway and then along Leach Hwy and south down Murdoch drive to take in the locality of Winthrop and Kardinya. From Murdoch drive continue east along South Street to the Kwinana Freeway. South along the Kwinana Freeway to its juncture with the southern border of the locality of Leeming. Follow this boundary east and continue along the City of Melville southern boundary to the juncture of the City of Melville, City of Cockburn and the City of Canning. Continue east along the northern boundary of the City of Cockburn to the intersection of the Cities of Cockburn, Canning, Gosnels and Armadale. The district continues East following the northern boundary of the city of Armadale
Eastern boundary: The common boundaries of the Shires of Armadale/York, Armadale/Beverley, Armadale/Wandering and Serpentine-Jarrahdale/Wandering.
Southern boundary: The southern border of the shire of Serpentine/Jarrahdale.
Swan Districts Football Club
Northern boundary: The boundary of the Shire of Chittering from its junction with the City of Wanneroo.
Eastern boundary: The common boundary between the Shires of Chittering and Toodyay, the City of Swan and Toodyay, Mundaring and Northam and Mundaring and York to its junction with the city of Armadale.
Southern boundary: Westward along the southern boundary of the Shire of Kalamunda from the point adjoining the Shire of York to the juncture of the Shires of Kalamunda, Gosnells and Armadale.
Western boundary: From the juncture of the City of Armadale and Gosnells and the Shire of Kalamunda, northwest along the north eastern border of the City of Gosnells. Further north west along the borders of the City of Canning and Belmont to the Swan River. The boundary continues to the northern side of the Swan River following the Tonkin Highway to its intersection with Railway parade. Then north east along railway parade to its intersection with the city of Bassendean. Follow the west side of the City of Bassendean, around the west boundary of the localities of Eden Hill and Kiara to Benara Rd. West along Benara Rd to Beechboro Rd north and the north along this road to the northern border of the locality of Beechboro. Follow the common borders of Beechboro and West Swan to Lord Street and then following the common border of the localities of Whiteman and Henley Brooke north to Gnangara Road. West along Gnangara road to its juncture with the west side of the City of Swan. The western boundary’s of the City of Swan and Chittering complete the Western boundary.

Western boundary: Indian Ocean Coastline from the northern border of the locality of North Beach to the western extension of Hepburn Avenue.
Northern boundary: From the coast, East along Hepburn Ave to the Mitchell Freeway. North on the Mitchell Freeway to Whitfords Avenue and then west to Wanneroo Road.
Eastern boundary: Wanneroo Rd from the juncture of Hepburn Avenue to its intersection with the southern border of the locality of Tuart Hill.
Southern boundary: The southern boundary of the locality of Tuart Hill from its intersection with Wanneroo Rd to the locality of Osborne Park. The boundary follows the eastern and southern aspects of this locality to its junction with the Mitchell Freeway. The southern boundary then continues north along the Mitchell Freeway to its intersection with Karrinyup Rd and then west along Karrinyup Rd to Marmion Ave. The boundary continues north along Marmion Avenue and then follows the northern aspect of the locality of North Beach to the coast.

the East Perth juniors is looking pretty sad and sorry today. Girrawheen-Koondoola hasn't fielded a team since 2004 and Landsdale moved to the Subiaco district.
The last year I played (2012), EP only had Coolbinia, Noranda and Ballajura field U/17 teams. Balla folded two games into the season.

The alignment with West Coast will hurt them as well in this regard. With West Coast's players getting priority it will be offputting for their juniors/Colts knowing that they probably won't get a game unless there are injuries etc once they are too old for Colts football.
That helps explains part of the reasons why guys like Keitel and Wityk who all played Colts football at East Perth have gone to other clubs. And then there's also Jackson Slater who played mostly Reserves at the Royals due to lack of opportunity.
