Oh good lord. Carlton are that worried about Buddy they are writing articles about him? Its suppose to be an article about Waite really, and theyre pumping up Buddy more. :D

Franklin's performance was nothing all that great on the weekend according to the great man himself, the best is yet to come..

But seriously, what a crap article..

I like Waite, think he is very versatile, and i think this could be the matchup of the game. It's obvious but waite will either keep buddy quiet, or buddy will explode, and buddy only needs 5 minutes to change a game so Waite will have to be on the ball for 4 full quarters.... Can't wait for this one!

Jarrad Waite has great athelecism ... this isn't Brad Miller we're talking about.

Waite can play.

Reality check brother. You were playing the team that finished second last in 06. Melbourne are a finals team and Miller is far from a hack. Makes you wonder what Buddy will do to a team of wooden spooners. No argument there chief:thumbsu:

I agree. Buddy can be contained and Waite has the ability to hold him down. Its a matter of how long he can do it for. As Buddy proved against the Dees and Carlton last year, he needed 5 minutes to turn a game on its head. Dont think Waite can hold him for 80 odd minutes

Thats whats so good having Buddy that he can turn games so quickly, been so long since we have had a player capable winning games of there own boot, player like him causes so many headaches and 80 minutes is a long long time in footy especially with buddy the freak! Want a huge game from Roughead, some big pack marks and few goals just to add to the excitement!

Mr Waite is in for a rude shock on Hawk Park. Its a massive ground.....a lot different to Telstra Dome. Buddy's aerobic capacity is something that Waite is gonna struggle to contain.

i agree, hawk park is a big ground. but at this time of the year most players should be fit and fresh. local footy boys seem to do ok fitness wise on the ground, so waite and the rest of the blues team, shouldn't have too much trouble

Smart article by Carlton.

I hope it doesn't hoodwink us into actually believing that Waite will play on Buddy, though. :p

Agreed. I think it would be a mistake if they played him down back, simply because he has shown he can dominate up forward against us.

I think Waite's agillity may be the key to our defence.

We can afford to move him down back - as he adds a lot to our defensive structure at CHB - more so than he adds being an inaccurate forward.

It may sound silly - but our attack is our strong point: Fevola, Whitnall, Fisher, Kennedy, Lappin, Betts etc

While we now have a lot of Tall KP defenders .. most are kids and are still learning.

So im more than happy to play him as a defender - besides Waite's goal kicking is TERRIBLE.

Fevola will destroy Hawthorn, you have no answers... so all this talk about Buddy beating Waite is stupid, if Buddy does happen to beat Waite it won't be by much and won't be match winning unlike Fevola ripping apart your very very average defence and beating probably 3 opponents to make a bigger impact on the game. Hawks are in for a reality check. Bookmark it if you like.

Yes another uneducated Carlton supporters response. First of all Einstein, Fevola is useless if the ball doesnt get inside 50. And with your quality midfielders ie ummmm well geezzzz ummmm....oh thats right nobody as compared to Hodge, Mitchell, Crawford (Brownlow) your good mate Fevola wont even see the ball. Stop boring us with yr garbage and go back to Princesssssss Park.

Its interesting to see the difference in ages and experience between the 2 players.

The fact that Franklin (20) - 4 years Waites junior, is spoken about in such high regard (especially when you consider that Waite himself is a highly rated prospect) must be a huge wrap for Franklin.

I'd expect Waite to probably win really, given he is four years older. Buddy is still finding his feet and needs a season or two with constant pressure, two players on him, all that stuff before he will really rise ...

Love Buddy though, but expect some ups and down for a bit still ...
