Surely we weren't going to allow Andrew Walker to move on?
He has suffered badly with injuries, and I know people get sick of hearing about all his 'potential' but surely Tex is one we have to stick with. Just imagine how it could come back to bite us in the ass if he had have gone to the dogs or the crows.
Im tipping a big year for Andrew in 2011...and I am glad he is still a blue (i bet he is too).

If the right deal came along, we absolutely would have moved him on.

We wanted a pick in the top 20 and if a team came knocking, he'd be at a different club as of this evening.

According to Ratten, Port came at him late but could only offer pick 34, which was refused - and quite rightly so.

I'm glad he stayed as I like him and reckon he has a fair bit to offer. But make no mistake, if the right offer came, he was outta here.

i suppose I just feared we would part ways with him for what we considered adequate compensation, him have an injury-free season or two and break our hearts!

In pro sports, I think virtually everyone is tradable if the right deal comes along, and I would have been fine with Walker leaving if we could have landed a good enough pick or player. However, I am glad that he is still here, and I think he will have a great year in 2011 if he can stay healthy.

You would have seen a similar reaction on the Port board if we gave up pick 16 for Walker.

Unfortunately (or fortunately in your case I guess) Walker is worth something in between picks 16 and 34, and since we couldn't off load Motlop for something in that ball park, a deal could not be reached.
