This is an out there idea but I think it may be a good move to throw Andrew Walker at full forward. He has speed and a good leap. Has shown when he is not injured he is capable of kicking 3-4goals.
May be a good idea which may throw some other teams defence's out of balance.

I reckon you're right in putting him forward. But groom him this year as a creative, hard-working half-forward in the Ryan O'Keefe style mould. He'd be a bit of a nightmare match-up for some defences with his tank.

Seems to me that the mental side of his game might be his biggest challenge - perhaps if he can be given a bit more of a creative license and the pressure of 110% accountability is taken off, he might really blossom into something.

I'm just praying Tex can have an injury free year.
We then might get to see the huge amount of talent he has.
Not sure about full forward, but definitely on a half forward flank.

Could see him playing that Robert Murphy lead up style HF for Carlton, but as a FF, I wouldn't have thought so. I'd still like to see him playing on a wing, so he can really use his speed, agility and endurance to hurt the opposition.

Just as a side note, he did a run around Princes Park in an effort to beat Adrian Gleesons record of 9 minutes, 53 seconds. Robert Harvey ran with him for the first half to pace him, and then Craig Bradley took over. Unfortunately, he just missed out, and ran a 10 mins, 9 seconds.

I agree with the critics ... Walker isn't a great overhead or contested mark (certainly not good enough to hold a Key Position slot) and his kicking leaves a lot to be desired.

Would prefer him to be a sweeper from the half back line truth be told.

How unusual

A lot of good marking forwards aren't that good at contested marking, Walker is very quick on the lead and would make a good lead up forward.

I believe with the outstanding endurance he's built up (17.4 in the beep test reportedly) that if he can get through without any setbacks then he'll be used mostly as a midfielder with spells in the forward line.

I always thought one of Walker's strengths was his marking ability.

Okay, I missed most of second half of 2005-early 2009 but the Walker I remember was more than capable of taking screamers.

Problem is he isn't big enough. Yes, he'd outquick guys like Prestigiacomo and Scarlett (take them out of the game, actually) but... his lack of size would make him the prey of some backmen.

I like him as an attacking winger.

Can't wait to see him full tilt on a lead taking an easy chest mark 5 meters ahead of his man,
I believe this could be a regularity with the right midfield delivery and forward structure.

However full-forward seems a stretch imo, mainly due to his "lock-in" shoulder surgery which has traditionally hindered full stretch marking.

The logical option for full-forward is Waite. Coming off a knee reconstruction, likely to be a bit fragile it'll suit him to lead straight up at the football and not risk twisting too often in marking contests etc.

O'Hailpin makes a good CHF - works hard, will contest and bring the ball to ground, and athletic enough to get all over the field. Will spend a lot of time playing alongside Murphy and Betts (or ideally, Yarran or Lucas if either is good enough to get a spot in the team), so all he really needs to do is compete and provide a target.

Walker might be an interesting option alongside Waite in the forward 50. As a medium-sized leading target, he has a good leap and can outjump most small defenders, while outrunning a taller defender when the ball hits the deck. Question is whether he can kick goals. Fisher plays a similar role (with less upside) and is probably the logical option, with Garlett filling in the forward pocket.

Walker is a ok player but as a Full Forward he won't make it. Their is only 2 options Brad Fisher or Sentanta Ohailipin at the moment. Henderson,Austin or Hampson will take time you would think.
