I may be a little concerned about nothing, but how do you see the progress of Andrew Walker at this stage. I know he has shown glimpses of being a good player but for some reason have my doubts.

I dont think he has come along as quickly as Carlton would have liked. Thats just an opinion, please tell me im wrong?

I'm not not really sure how 'Carlton' liked him to go, but most supporters would've expected more. Afterall, we are talking about a top draft pick, and without ever having very high draft picks at Carlton, there were always going to be expectations placed on him.

ATM, I have no criticisms with what he does with the ball, but he just isn't getting it enough. Not to worry though. Simpson had a string of donut games on debut, but now he's adjusted to the pace and we're seeing the rewards. Give Walker time, he'll come good....

I hope he doesnt become another bungled top draft choice in a couple of years. We have had plenty of them.

Your right about Simpson. He is improving every game which a great sign. Add Fisher, Waite and Carazzo into the mix and we have a few good kids.

We really need Walks to step up next year though after 2 years in the system.

Turned 19 two months ago and if he does not play well in the last few games then will be delisted at the end of the year.
Poor attitude, over weight and to many off field problems. No talent and not athletic enough. Wont play on his opponent. Aker and Mcleod cut him up badly this year.

The club made a huge mistake drafting him.

Someone else start another thread on Russell and Blackwell next and how disappointing they have been.

I am already worried about our draft picks at the end of the year. Murphy, Ellis and anyone else are not showing any real form and not the champions they were supposed to be at 17 and 18 years of age.

Parkin was right to trade away our early draft picks for McGuane, Devonport and others.

he is still learning the game of senior footy
i don't think he has played any senior footy only u/18 TAC
he was a bottom age draft pick and has had a couple of injuries.
he is still a little light on in terms of bulk
he has yet to find his best position in the side

luke hodge took 3 years to really come on

carlton in general are not a high possession team so his stats based purely on possessions V other players won't show the whole picture.

another pre-season will do him wonders, carlton winning (confidence) a few games on end (momentum) will also make a world of difference.

while teams are winning people tend to be less criticle of players especially young players, but when teams are losing deficinecies & performances are hilighted/scrutinised much more.

IMO we expect our draft picks to come on like chris judd did, but we need to remember chris judd is the exception and not the rule.

Good work Mojo, but I do have to cringe at our past draft results. For top 15 picks its great to see the likes of Livo, wiggins, sporn and co. coming along quite nicely. The question is always going to be there untill their performances start to roll out. It may be critical but reality. Dont bury your head in the sand.

How about Simpson at pick 45 and Fisher at pick 72?

Rookies in Carrazzo and Bentick.

The drafting from past recruiting managers and coaches has been pathetic. Cant critisize Walker and this years crop yet. Need to be patient.
Wayne Hughes seems to know what he is doing.

Not Critisising just asking a question im sure a lot of Blues fans are eagarly awaiting the answer to. AFL is a harsh world, especially when it comes to judging the kids. After 2 years in the system, people will start to expect more from you, its part of the trade whether you like it or not. There has been plenty of young talent thats been left behind and the game has just passed them by. Not suggesting Walker fits this category, but next year we do need more from him.

i think Walkers been very good at most the jobs hes been assigned to this year.. he needed to learn some defensive skills and adapted to his tagging roles better than what i thought he would. Played a more suited role on Saturday with the Bullants and carved em upto be one of the BOG ...

No problem with that. Expect more next year and for him to be an elite player in his 5th year onwards. He is the same age as most 1st year draftees.

I think walker is terrible. He alsways turns over the ball with his disposal. Adam Cooney is a hundred times better than him. If you want walker to improve you can't make him tag players, you must let him create the play for you.

go back to the dogs board you idiot...cooney was the number one draft pick and the standout selection for that year. so of course he is better at this stage
