Interview with Terry Wallace on Sport 927 this morning.

http://www.sport927.com.au/gateway/Daily_Audio/daily.asp

It goes for about 10 mins or so, the basic run down was as follows if you don't want to listen to the whole thing.

He was questioned on why the stopages are such a big focus for the team, at which point he bought up the number of goals the Lions get from stoppages.

He had some great news on Cogs - saying they are targeting Round 1, but he might play a half or so in the Wizard Cup, just to see how he's going.

Mentioned that a couple of the draftees will be right to go for Round 1, but didn't say which ones

Spoke about Raines, Hartigan, Tambling, Roach, Deledio, and Myer will all be used in the midfield, as they are all quick, with good ball use.

Forwards - good to have tall strong and mature bodies eg Simmonds and Knobel, in the forward line amongst a young team.

Captaincy - spoken to the team individually and got their feedback, process in place, may even wait untill after the WC to anounce captain

Rodan and Pettifer are coming along nicely. Pettifer was crook early, but now is going realy well and is "such a beautiful kick of the ball". Rodan is one of the best on the track at the minute, and will be in the midfield.

That's about it, quite postive, without going over the top.

other things talked about

- also looks like our captain wont be anouced till after wized cup
- talks of rodan and kayne petifer
- players gone lawn bowling today (their selection of a social day)
- training tmoz (11.00)

Interesting how Wallace says Pettifer is going fine when a number of posters from a certain site are saying his going crap.

It is a great listen.

EDIT: Woohoo 1,000 posts!! :D

A beautiful kick!!!

It's going to take a lot more than a beautiful kick to convince me, and YES I am one of those posters who doesn't show any confidence in Pettifer at all.

I hope he's out there to prove me wrong this season

at training he doesnt seem that crash hot. he doesnt even take the kick outs at all.... he doesnt get my attention... hopefully he can give me reasons to have his attention. jackson was the one taking a few kick outs btw. also lids took out a few.

I'd like to see the capt named @ the family day when they do the guernsey presentation.

(looks up family day date ) Which would be March 23, which is after the wizzy cup. I think I'll go out the back and bury my head now.

I dunno why,
Overall i think he did a good job for Richmond & he was one of my favourite coaches.
What was his win/loss record as coach?

Ok never mind i found it, 113 games 45 wins 68 losses = 34%, not as good as i thought. Well anyway he's a good bloke at least, lol.

regarding frawley's coaching record, if you take away his first two years his win loss ratio gets far worse than that. something like 18 wins 48 losses - and to think that he actually thought he deserved to stay on!

Pettifer played a good run of games last year before injuring himself, out of the pack pocket and up forward was just about our best player for 4 or 5 weeks. something for him to build on imo, i expect him to really come on this year. i think petts is a victim of the danny frawley yo-yo method of blooding youngsters on and off the bench. give him a spot and let him settle plough.

I hope Pettifer has a very good year, he should improve on the end of 2004 where he did very well off of HB.

Would not take much for him to improve now will it lol.
If it was not for Terry saying during a game Richmond should give him more time and in the 1 position you would not of seen him do alright at the end of last season.

But the opposite happens if you do the reverse
Take out the games up until after Round 8 2003 where we were 6-2, and his record isn't that bad, up around 50% from memory.

Not trying to say he should have stayed or anything, but when you lose 31 of the last 36 games, it does start to sway your figures a bit
