Schulz will be more damaging at CHF and Hall needs to keep playing at CHB to keep improving. Hall is 196cm and 97kg, but he badly needs to bulk up to 105kgs. This season was his first real run in defence and he actually did well on half of his opponents. He also got a bag kicked on him about 5 times, but on those occasions he was outmuscled. Hall has the height, speed and athleticism to match most tall fowards. He would have to be close to the fastest in our side and he has a massive kick when he runs down the ground. I really hope that he goes crazy in the gym and by round 1, his size could be intimidating. With more experience as a defender, Hall will get better and better. At times when he has the ball, he isn't too alert of what's around him and he has been caught in defence, but he's improving and at CHB. He is a good spoiler and that's his main role.

I'm hoping we get Patrick Bowden, he is 191cm and 91kgs, but he looks skinny. If he builds up to about 98kgs, he can be a key position player. It's exciting thinking how each player will play to their 100% potential, rather than the 80% they played in the Frawley mess. If Hall can do the job at CHB, Schulz at CHF and if Gaspar is over his knee and has full confidence, we may be look the goods. Gas was the key to our defence for a few seasons and he did his knee and came back 10 rounds too early this season. He was restricted to only playing at 80% for half the season and by then his confidence was so low because he couldn't stop his opponents because his body wouldn't allow him to. His confidence would have stuffed the second half of his season. I'm sure he would have worried about even running out onto the ground with the crowd on his back. It would have been frustrating. All his knockers really have no idea, but I can see the real; Gaspar coming out on round 1 and continuing on from where he was before 2004 and becoming a key player for the next 3 years.

I agree, Hall should be groomed for CHB and Schulz at full forward.

FB GASPER
CHB HALL

CHF RICHO
FF SCHULZ

Thats what I think, but it would be good to see how Schulz goes in a CHB position. The time to find out is now.

I'd prefer to see Schulz in the forward line too, but with Simmonds likely to play FF I think he'll be in the backline.

I'd prefer Schulz up forward but we don't really have enough down back at the momment in the key positions.
Schulz has already shown on a few occasions he can take contested marks so I reckon he might be somewhat wasted if he is played down back, he aslo chases hard out of the forward line and he seeks out the body contact which very few on the list do.

Hall is hopeless in a key defensive position, he proved that this season.

Schultz appaers out of sorts when playing at CHF, better suited at FF.

Although they played in at CHB for about 1/2 a game towards the end of the season and he did alright.

Disagree,s i like the idea of grooming Shultz at CHB.we need some brute in the backline.

cheers!
I'm with you t o o. Shultz looks a likely type for CHB. Likes to run straight at the ball and doesn't mind throwing his weight around. Could develop in to the first attacking key backman we've had for quite a while.

If Gaspar can reclaim his form (though I'm not convinced he can), that would leave Hall to be the third tall in defence. Hall doesn't have the polish to take the gun forwards, but could do ok on the third big forward and I think he is also more attacking when he isn't on the number 1 forward. Likes to go for a run and may feel more confident to do so if he isn't minding the top guys. Would free up Bowden as the go-to man, probably meaning other teams would need to try and tag him in the backline. Fill up the other spots with a couple of smaller quicker blokes, Hartigan, etc.

Of course this structure isn't going to work against all teams, but against the big forward lines it might do ok. Also doesn't leave a spot for Kellaway. As Gaspar and Kellaway can pretty much only play in defence, it means Schultz and Hall are going to need to be adaptable.

If he was to be groomed for a role at CHB, his ground level skills need huge improvements. So far his most effective position has been in the forward line, and looks much more comfortble in that role then his somewhat comical perfromanes in the back half.

What do you guys think of Kelvin Moore at CHB? I know he would need to add at least 10kg's, but he seems to read the play well and he has the height, any thoughts?

I dunno, he's listed at 86 at the start of the year and in the limited time Danny gave him this year he seemed to cope well in the heat of several games and appears to have all the atributes to play there for some time. Start him there next year with Hall as a backup on the bench ready to go. Could suprise a few people!
