After watching Selwood last night and seeing cotchin's skill and poise (without a pre-season) I think we MAY have got it wrong.

Do people think our side would be better with Selwood & Cotchin instead of Gibbs and Kreuzer?

I know its very early but i'm very scared.

We got it 100% right when we took Gibbs and Kreuzer. Both of these boys will be very very good for us in the future.

The Kreuzer/Cotchin comparison is far too early, and Gibbs/Selwood- are you nuts? Gibbs is the absolute complete package for the modern day midfielder- will be far better than Selwood in the long run.

I couldnt be happier with how both of them are travelling.

Lets not over rate Gibbs roles so far. He beat Cornes when he was playing on one leg and with 9 fingers. He beat Goodes when he couldn't turn or move off a straight line. deleidio was also the Tigers best player when we beat them.

How about we re-evaluate this in another year or two. Gibbs is such an extreme talent, and I think the way Ratts has used his this year has been fantastic. Play him on one of the oppositions best mids, and he learns so much more about playing in the midfield. Gibbs could be anything.

I think every team would be more than happy with all the players mentioned that they got, they will all be great for their teams.
Its the draft system and its a lottery, sometimes it works and sometimes it does not-its a lot of guess work and luck involved and the preasure the kids are under and the team mates they are surrounded by.
Like i said im happy with who Carlton chose as i think both geelong & Richmond are happy, we got who we thought we needed for the next 10 years to challenge for a premiership...

Warning.... dont assess players on hype!!!! What Cotchin has been able to do does not compare with Gibbs as he is just going about finding his feet with not much responsibility in Richmonds side and Selwood also is just going about a usual relatively straight forward role for Geelong in the midfield whilst being surrounded by a plethora of superstars on every line and has not been given monumental tasks or been trusted with the responsibilities that Gibbs has, I hope your not like most on BF and just study stats and get carried away with them, Gibbs is far more talented and flexible then both atm and showing it in a team which has really struggled for 2 years, showing maturity beyond his age.

You blame our recruitment staff because you believe they stuffed up. Going by that theory surely the people who stuffed up recruiting the recruiting team are to be blamed? Following this to Board level we can lay the blame at the supporters feet who voted them in. Consequently you need to have a look at yourself regarding the Selwood stuff-up. Shame.

I watched Selwood last night and he was very good but I don't think that makes him better than Gibbs. He's a year older for a start, and Gibbs is just starting to develop a hardened body.

As for Cotchin/Kreuzer, wasn't the fact that Kreuz is a ruckman the whole point???

There were debates over which one was better but Kreuz fills our needs and could well turn out to be a premiership and even brownlow medal winning ruckman.

In order for Trent Cotchin to come into out side, one of our midfielders would have to have gotten the chop. We already have several midfielders in the Bullants, we'd be idiotic to even think about drafting another one. The club would have "got it wrong" if we had drafted Cotchin.

We got Matthew Kreuzer because we needed a Ruckman, a Ruckman who will be at the club for a long while to come. Kreuz will be a star, that's a certainty.

Gibbsy was hyped because we all knew he was going to be a star. He has well and truely shown what type of player he will be throughout this year, and if you'd be willing to trade him to Geelong for Joel Selwood, you'd be a goose.

It's also interesting to note that Bryce Gibbs is 19 years old whilst Joel Selwood is 20.

if a player is not showing anything how can recruiters predict that they will star? gibbs and kruezer both dominated in their younger years, you would be worried about the club if we did not pick them.

also recruiters pick players on their own thoughts, they do not go on footy discussion sites like this and see what people think and read about the hype, they don't care about the hype.
