those crows
a wcoast supporter came to the adelaide board saying that a late-ish in trade week the stenglein deal looked shakey, so butler was offered, but the crows knocked him back cause they needed pick 12 for thompson. and apparently butler is pis$ed at the club now cause he wanted to come home.

Anybody know something about this??

About that trade do you think we did well out of it? i think we could have got alot more out you for stenglein, i would have asked minimum for waters. after all we had the power in the deal. what do you all think?

Well according to our CEO before trade week neither he nor Waters were going to be put on the table under any circumstances. He doesn't usually come out with definitive statements like that unless they are true.

yeah officially that was the word, but you know how it is, until a trade is done they're not going to say something like that especially if, as what happen neither of them were traded.

Well I don't believe we have ever traded any recruit, let alone an interstate recruit, after 1 year on the list. It just sends out the wrong message.

f you have a read back, several months prior to the trade week, Adelaide posters were saying that they had heard from 'extremely reliable' sources that Butler was extremely unhappy and wanted to be traded, and that west coast were going to swap him for Stenglein.

-at the time, most right thinking west coast supporters had a good chuckle about it, and said that if the deal was going through it was going to have to be draft picks.

Trade week came and went, and the deal was done for draft picks, albeit perhaps a bit more than we had hoped for. There was a rumor re-Butler coming from the Michelangelo Rucci direction, but given that Rucci had previously asserted that Butler/Waters were dead-set certs to be traded for Stenglein, he rather had a vested interest.

Now, if post trade week, Adelaide supporters want to continue to believe, despite all indicators to the contrary that we *actually* offered what they had been asking for all along but they turned it down, then more fool them. I don't think its very credible.

i dont think butler was a fair trade anyway i wouldnt want him. i'd take waters, he looks as though he has the goods.

and rucci is a idiot how do u even know about him?? he hates the crows, so negative all his articles, always pumping up the power, even they have like 10% support in the state. anyway he said that the crows might get waters and a second rounder, didnt really mention butler. butler isnt rated that highly here, waters is definitely preferred

the word is that butler wants home, not sure about waters though. Anyway our trading is always ********ty you did ok out of the deal, stenglein is very underrated. will add alot to your midfield. i think he laid something like 70 tackles 3/4 way through last season.

it was a wcoast supporter who said this story

There's a simple way of looking at this. If Butler was offered for Stenglein, there is no way the Crows would have gone back to draft picks unless they were complete lunatics.

who really cares anymore.

there were afew whispers in the media here in Perth and also it seems in Adelaide (could have just been Rucci).

we have been over this topic time and time again.

i think when butler is 24 he will be a better player than stenglien. and i think he is a better player now than stenglien was when he was 18.

means nothing in the end tho. sam could improve out of sight or hault in development.

Butler will become a star in 2005. I know it, Worsefold knows it, Nisbett knows it and there was no way he would be traded. So ******** ******** ******** ******** off back to your board Jack.
