This guy could be a seriously good batsman and should have a lot more 100s and would add at least 10 more runs to his average if he didn't try and play that crap little late glide or slog in the air to areas that have a man on the boundry. The guy has all the ability but makes terrible decisions and doesn't learn from his dismissals.

I would suggest it's because he hasn't developed the ability to work the ball around for singles and he's got fairly hard hands so that glide is one of his only options when trying to rotate the stike. It's not so much poor shot selection as lack of shots to select from in the circumstances.

Was gonna say, how many times has he got out playing that dinky glide and chopping on.....you'd think he'd learn.

Although I agree his lack of working the singles is a contributing factor. He's like Matthew Hayden circa 1994; a boundary or nothing......

Why he continues to play that glide, and in test matches is beyond me! So many times he gets in and every one else is crumbling and he goes out when he's in by playing a dumb shot like a slog to an area of the boundry where there is a fielder back or that bloody glide shot. You'd recon Langer would be pulling his hair over this.

He's played that glide forever. In tests most teams do away with a third man and hes scored a ton of runs with that shot. Risk v reward I think its worked for him and youd think he'd have enough awareness of his own game through with the help of his coaches to adjust if it wasnt working for him enough.

Personally I love the shot.

Watson is probably our best player along with Clarkey in terms of value to the team. Shows in him being the second richest cricketer in the nation. People on his case about his batting - theres a lot more players that deserve the microscope! (Hey Peter Forrest)
