Just watching the Eagles game (if it weren't at Noarlunga ...) and Fergus Watts has just shown some great maturity well beyond his years.

If you're not watching it: Bennett and him got into a bit of shirt tugging and Watts flashed red, went to crack him in the face but he thought better of it. I like that, shows he's got a cool head under that ... mop.

He's kicked two, I think.

Nah. He makes pancakes for Ayres on gameday. That would be a clash of roles with actually playing the game.

He could probably play next week. Today he's shown good awareness, among other things.

I think it was in the first quarter where he knew a South player was coming to spoil him, so he bent his back a little and let the South player fly over the top of him - free kick and a goal.

I'd give him a crack sometime soon because I think he's ready to play.

Saw that incident. Showed a bit of mongrel, but a bit of restraint and earned himself two 25 metre penalties. Loved the way he grinned in the face of Bennet after kicking the goal.

Did anyone hear Ron Fuller on 5AA earlier in the week. Cornsey asked if he was suprised that Watts was still playing for the Eagles and Fuller said he was more suprised by all the talk of him getting a call up. He didn't think he was quite ready for an AFL debut and needed a few more weeks at the Eagles.

He was solid today. A good target for the Eagles who did his job. Competed well but needs to work on his kicking. The conditions down there didnt really help tho.

Fantastic leap and doesnt mind getting dirty. If only he had of held on to the ball when he went up for it on a couple of occassions...mark of the year stuff! A couple of in close handballs and tackles from him as well. Worked hard and kicked two.

Not his best game but he looks more convincing than Scotty Welsh atm.
