Just watched the Duck on FC, and interestingly, he says we can still win the GF and he has picked us. More importantly, what chance we nab him as an assistant/ forward coach. Much as I hated him as a player, that hatred was based on his brilliance and the only possible challenger to GA snr. as the best player ever. What an amazing addition to our team. Any thoughts?
 
He bashed a woman ... and cops. I don't think he is that good at coaching we should look at him.
 
Yea should put Watson up as the midfield coach. ;) Hird would be great as a coach! Too bad he has a business to run, and is still a tad attached to the Bombers. Maybe after a few years Bomber can try to implement a succession plan ...

I felt a bit warmer towards Carey after he tipped Geelong too. His controversies haven't escaped my notice and I must admit to quietly disliking the man as a result of his history. But he was surprisingly good in terms of the way he conducted himself on the show and may have won me over a little bit.

It interesting he has tipped us especially as he was part of the North Melbourne side that 10 years ago was in a similar situation to us. They lost the Grand Final the previous year when they were hot favourites with thanks to second quarter yips at kicking at goal. In 1999 they held their nerves in that grand final to make amends. Interesting also if I remember correctly Bomber Thompson was assistant coach and Cameron Mooney was part of that side that won in 1999. I hope that we are able to repeat history :thumbsu:

Oddly someone rang SEN today to suggest pretty much this exact thing. Balmey worked with Carey at Collingwood, it's a bit hard to judge of course but he seemed fairly impressed with the idea. There was some general banter about Tomahawk being a similar style of playerr to the King (albeit a bit bigger).

I don't like Carey much either but frankly if it wins us a flag I'd have Osama bin Laden on the coaching team.
 
Dont need Carey even though he certainly was a top playuer. He was good on the Footy classifieds the other night but what did people expect? he wasnt exaclty gonna be swearing, hitting on Caro or punching Thomas was he?

It was nice to see him showing humility and i am glad his life is getting back on track, we all make mistakes and deserve a chance to redeem ourselves. Personally i think Carey isnt ready to be a top assistant coach yet. He has had issues with showing committment which was why he lost his radio gig. Not too sure what happened at Collingwood but he didnt last long there.

Anyway if i remember correclty, i dont think he wanted a fulltime gig, more like a few days a week.

I dont think anyone is questioning his playing ability. He is the second best player I have seen (behind Gary Ablett Snr). Just the fact that he dickh**d is in question.
 
carey bashes women... ablett assists in overdosing and killing a women.... lets not start!!!!!
 
Carey - premiership captain. Ablett - neither premiership nor captain.
 
Meh you don't win browny points with me for tipping us to win the Premiership. I don't give a shit what anyone thinks, tipping in our favour or against us has no bearing on the result so I don't derive any pleasure from such comments.
