I thought I'd do some research (I mean steal the facts from a thread on the Carlton board that I am banned from) into Carlton's team v Sydney last week and see how many of Carlton's first rounders made an impact

Here's what I found (stole):

Rookies, PSD, and third round selections onwards:

Mitch Robinson (3rd rounder)
Eddie Betts (PSD)
Michael Jamison (Rookie)
Jeff Gartlett (Rookie)
Nick Duigan (4th round)
Kade Simpson (4th round)
Jarrad Waite (third round F/S)
Ed Curnow (Rookie)
Andrew Carrazo (Rookie)
Simon White (Rookie)
Dennis Armfield (Third round)
Aaron Joseph (Rookie)
David Ellard (Rookie)
Setanta Ohailpin (Rookie)

Trades:
Jeremy Laidler
Chris Judd
Robert Warnock
Heath Scotland

First round picks:
Bryce Gibbs (1)
Marc Murphy (1)
Jordan Russell (9)
Andrew Walker (2)

The rookies, PSD, and third round selections onwards selections make up 14 of the 22

How good is Hughes? We can play lucky dip with our round 1 picks. doesn't really matter.

Bring on round 3 and the rookie list. This is the Hughes sweet spot!

You could take the Carlton round 1 picks out of that team and replace with any 4 spuds on the list. Still a winning team

Hughes is a genious

Can't argue with the OP. Curnow & Duigan of the most recent were masterstrokes.

Why didn't you list Brock McLean amongst the trades?

Would hate to have to quote my own OP to a mod who obviously is doing his job and reading posts properly

but I will
