Hectic news to hear. Sad for all concerned. Condolences to the family.

Corresponded with him privately on footy matters for many years before he found his celebrity status ( for want of a better term ) here.

Never met the man face to face but the intel that he shared more often that not come to be.

We had some mutual football and sport in general people that we both knew, and who’s work we discussed togther.

A lot of the intel was about other Clubs internal draft ratings and the possible trade speculation of player in the first quarter of the season, that actually came to be or if not exactly then said players moved to a different club to what had originally been indicated.

He also had good inside contacts at West Coast and shared a lot of that stuff with me.

Now I will say this if he was just a good speculator of info, what he shared with me was more often than not stuff that eventuated. The information about players with red flags that he had access early in their draft year often was spot on.

I for one miss the PM’s an dialogue, debates and general discussion that we had.

I made some enquires as to what had happened to him after all went silent.

And what Donkers had said previously is what I also heard.

Poor bloke, to work hard across decades to set yourself up for an idyllic retirement and then life’s snatched in an instant. I’m reminded of the old saying:
“enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think”.

I'm pretty sure he was genuine. I managed to figure out who he likely was and posted something on here that gave a reasonable hint. He messaged me privately asking to remove it and confirmed that was him. If it was true- he was 100% legit.

RIP. Phil was quality. Was never a fan of the doubters. Even if not club connected (which I believe he was) his recruiting insights were stronger than most. Rest easy, friend.
