Don't think that the WWF has anything useful in mind for WCW. McMahon's primary motivation for buying WCW was to acquire its archives and to purchase the contracts of as many wrestlers as popular to prevent them from being signed by a new fed (i.e Bischoff).

Where would the support for a rejuvenated WCW come from? This merger certainly isn't going to create new fans. In fact, many WCW fans will stop watching because of the WWF's involvement.

The WCW brand could be used as part of an "interpromotional" feud. This would keep it alive for a year or two longer, at most.

WCW could turn into a "feeder" league for the WWF. This is probably what is most likely to happen in the long run.

It could be used as a sort of running experiment for different types of wrestling (the way the NFL is using the XFL, without admitting it publicly). This would make sense considering all the cruiserweights and
Japanese wrestlers on WCW's roster, but, given McMahon's low opinion of foreign styles and technical wrestling, it is unlikely.

Some interesting points you make.
I think he will kill it after bringing its best stars to WWF. I dont know but perhaps this is his ultimate victory and he may not have definite plans yet. I think if McMahon does it right he will bring the WCW fans over to WWF as some of the potential match ups will generate a lot of interest. Imagine Goldberg/Austin or HHH/Steiner and a lot more. I think there is some pretty good viewing ahead.

Certainly, interest will be at a peak if feuds like those were to happen, but feuds only last a few months or a year at most nowadays. Not to mention, McMahon has had a difficult enough time finding interesting feuds for Jericho, the Radicals, and the ex-ECW wrestlers he has signed over the past two years. There just won't be enough spots to go around for everyone.

And, McMahon is going to have trouble signing much of the top talent. The Steiners and some others aren't excited about the prospect of working in the WWF again, and you can bet Goldberg is going to try to hold McMahon up for a huge guaranteed salary. The lower level talent accepted having their contracts picked up because they need to work, but the main eventers can afford to wait a while for a new promotion to spring up.

Yes it's sad. However, looks like McMahon is going to keep to promotions separate. That's a good thing to do.

He needs to make WCW on par with the WWF if the interprotional fueds will work in the future. If not fans will not watch WCW shows. That's why the he shouldn't do the inter-promotional straight away. He needs time to build up the WCW brand name.

Did anyone catch Nitro this week. It looked weird seeing Vince McMahon at the begining of the show. It then hit you that he really does own WCW.

It's going to be hard for a new promotion to to start. You need lots of money and television exectutives are weary of putting wrestling programing on tv at the moment because they think the "wrestling fad" is over. This is witnessed by the fact the feusnet group went to Fox and asked them for some television air time and Fox refused.

The only way for a new big promotion to start up is if this WWF-WCW angle gets really huge so that other television networks want to cash in on the wrestling boom by putting wrestling programing on their stations.

Regards to all Wrestling fans - we are not understood by people who don't follow it but we are the ones with the vision !!
I do not share the doom and gloom of some others. I stopped watching WCW a few months ago as I thought it was ordinary compared to WWF. The likes of Flair,Luger, Sting and Page to me are well past their used by dates. The only ones I rated were Goldberg, Kidman and Vampiro (does anyone know what happened to him). For what its worth I think HHH is the number 1 attraction in the industry today and unfortunately I think he will clean up the Taker (my favourite) on Monday morning - albeit this to me is the highlight match on the card.
I have heard that Bischoff and Hogan are setting up their own comp. - can anyone confirm this.

vampiro gave wrestling a break to be part of the band, insane clown posse. He has been seen at many of their concerts on stage. The last I heard he was planning a comeback

Yes that's true Eastaugh. But I would like to add that WCW bascially terminated his contract. He would of liked to of kept on wrestling from what I've heard. However, he suffered from concussion at the time he was terminated so it would been a long time before he stepped back in the ring.
