... there was about 3 mins to go in the third quarter and we had all the momentum. We were streaming down the members wing, with two loose players further upfield but one of our players (I can't actually remember who) stopped and signalled for us to slow the tempo down. Eagles had time to re-group, and man up, so we ended up bombing it long to a contest, and then, oh, so predictably, they got the clearance and ran the ball forward for a goal.

WHY stop when you have the momentum????? Surely the best way to keep up your advantage is to keep kicking goals?

One of the few frustrating things (apart from the umpiring) on an otherwise fantastic day for the club.

What else do you expect from a team that from the past 48 games, have only came out of top 10 times.

It's obivous, we don't know how to win. All those skills and decisions will come from expierence, which was gained today and will be gained from out next win, whenever that will be.

PATIENCE is the key.

I only got frustrated in the last quarter when they decided to slow it down early in an attempt to milk the clock. I was hoping they would play the same attacking footy they'd played for the first 3 quarters... but then again, if we had'nt of kicked inaccuratley in that last quarter it might have been much of the same.

Either way... Who Cares?
WE WON! :D

For ****s sake only a distinct group of Melbourne 'supporters' could TRY and find the negatives out of the second win we have in one season. What is the point of this thread? Are u angry we won? It sure seems that way. Jesus H Christ some people are just happy when their down.

$hit thread :thumbsd:

Who then gave it to Green who did the exact same thing BC! I feel like defending Bruce, I thought he was great yesterday.

Another we almost lost the game when....Wheatley turned it over out of the backline in the second quarter I think it was. The players took the next 5-10 minutes to get back in their rhythm.

Settle down sunshine, did you not read the last line of my post?

"One of the few frustrating things (apart from the umpiring) on an otherwise fantastic day for the club."

And no, i didn't TRY to find a negative, it found me.

We're not perfect yet mate.

By the way, it should be "Some people are just happy when they're down," not their.

Basically the point is that we always look good when we TAKE THE GAME ON.

And we looked bloody magnificent yesterday when we did :D

Sorry 'Doc' obviously you're an English professor so I'll take more care lest I hurt your feelings :thumbsu:

I read the last line 'Doc' but it was on the back of an entire paragraph aimed at highlighting a specifically bad passage of play.

I'm aware we are not perfect yet my objection is trying to dwell (about 6 hours after the win) on the negative aspects of the game.

Nonetheless I did reply rather late at night and was somewhat intoxicated after over celebrating the win, so perhaps I'll put it down to that. Or maybe I was on my rags last night who knows? Either or, I'll be remembering the positive aspects of the game for the rest of the week, Lord knows wins are few and far between for Melbourne!

Damn right 86... wish you'd been online for the party that unfolded after the match though, of course. Beautiful thing that's been happening around BF since then :D

We look so impressive, and exciting too, when we really take the game on like we did for most of the time yesterday...
