If you can't kick.............

you can't play.

AFL players that practice all bloody week, can't kick from the bloody goalsquare. I can't believe how shoddy our kicking is.

No-one can hit a target in play, we can't kick goals from 30m set shots. I'm not sure what's more embarrassing, Porps not even making the goalsquare from 45m out, Burton missing from the square or both being outdone by an Ian Perrie snap.

Hopeless skills.

What hope do we give ourselves when we are so deficient in the basics:

Goal kicking
Poor disposal generally
Poor decision making
Forward line entries
Poor tackling
Non existant forward line
Pace

And we are dumb. How many times have we allowed Geelong to square the ball in the forward line?

The worrying thing is yes we have ball magnets but they butcher the ball. And this isnt by the usual suspects Knights and Thompson, all our players are capable of butchering the ball. Edwards is an experienced player and should not butcher it like he does.

The good and sad part about it is we were in a position to strike all day without Hudson, Welsh, Roo, Bassett, Bode and Hentschell. This is in part because of our effort and our negative game plan. Which today cost us, that effort in the 3rd qtr was absolutely stupid gutless football.

Are we gone?

Results went our way yesterday with the Melbounre win. With the Dogs and Lions games coming up, we still have a shot technically.

But...do we stand a chance?

Re: If you can't kick.............

SOme of the shots we missed today were disgraceful to say the least. Sure blame it on the weather, but cmon, most of us can kick goals from 35-40m out at the local park...and they cant do it in the AFL?

I think we will still make the finals... but if we continue to play like this, will go nowhere once in.

Re: If you can't kick.............

For side that prides itself on good skills we've been struggling for awhile.
Its certainly one reason we've lost many close games this year.

Very frustrating eh:confused:

We were smashed in the clearances, smashed in the ruck and unaccountable in the backlines occasionally. If we keep going this way, we won't be playing finals football.

Time for us to throw caution to the wind and play more attacking football.

Can a fish swim?? Can a bird fly??

A lack of positivity blew our whole chances in the 3rd quarter.

We were travelling well and then Torney inesplicably initiated an horrific passage of tempo footy that ultimately ended up handing the momentum to Geelong and enabling them to kick 3 goals and shut us out of the game.

Fkg rubbish and a blight on Craig and the players.

Malcolm Blight once said "you get what you deserve in footy" and apart from the umpires we got ours today!! :( :thumbsd:

No we are not. But I wasn't too unhappy about todays game. They let us in for a sniff when we shouldn't have even been in the game, but we fought it out.

Forget about the finals. We would be only making up the numbers and teams in the top 4 are the ones only with a chance.

Our skill levels have deserted us and make silly unforced errors.

But Geelong were in the same boat as well as our neighbours across the road, and look what can happen with some fine tuning and good pre season.

This season has left us and I for one will be waiting for next year to come around, because we are not that far away.

Yet despite of this some how we conspired to have the top team in the league really worried halfway through the 3rd qtr.

Stop looking at a half empty glass.

Yet we played that type of footy last year with better skills and executed it to a tee. Our skills are letting us down. With a slight bit of what's above the shoulders as well.

Re: If you can't kick.............

How much longer can we tolerat Chris Knight's DEPLORABLE foot skills ???

I think he is confused and is actually a natural righ footer.

He is one of the worst left foot kicks i have seen. Normnally left footers have penetrating accurate legs.

1 point or 101 points it is still a loss. You may be happy with a gallant defeat.... Oh its ok we only lost by 33 points. The performance was terrible Geelong were like a cat with its mouse and played with us. They are a bloody good team.

Geelong remind me of us in our glory days last season. They're all about team work, they're fast, move the ball well and quite clearly, a cut above the rest.
