We do need a CHB!

I wouldn't say we need one, only that it would be desirable. This would allow us to use Hunter as the 3rd tall option.

However, Hunter has done a pretty good job this year, and i'm relatively happy with the structure we have currently.

A bigger CHB would be handy in finals footy though.

It would be great to pick up a guy like Jonno Hay or Polak just to get another big body down back to help out Glassy and Hunts. They are doind an awesome job for so called no names (well no names to people not in WA) If our midfield keeps dominating the way they are then it wont matter as much that we dont have a big CHB. Anyway things are looking good.

GO WEST COAST EAGLES 2005!!!

Travis Gaspar will be the final piece of the jigsaw of the perfect multiple premiership winning spine.

Glass
Gaspar
Cox
Hansen
McDougall
Those parts of the jigsaw look equally unlikely at the moment.

McDougall played ok for Perth yesterday considering the margin that they lost by. Marked well and rucked well.

Hay is a full back who hasn't played good footy in YEARS, Polak is a young player who's never held down CHB for any serious amount of time. I have said in the past I'd look at Hay if he came cheap for another tall defender option but I'd be stunned if he was able to hold down CHB.

Hunter has been good, he might not be ideal but the guy is getting the job done. For example, Geelong have a fine player in Tom Harley at CHB, he stands at 192cm and is hardly a large body - Hunter is 2cm shorter and might still be able to adapt his body shape to better suit the position. When a guy is getting the job done you have to back him in, pretty much what Geelong did with Harley.

Also, Matty Scarlett stands at 192cm.

Scarlett and Harley, when fit and firing, are regarded as one of the best FB-CHB combos in the league - and rightly so they are very good players.

I'm not saying Hunter (190cm) and Glass (192cm) are as good as these guys but it just proves you don't need to have 195cm+ key defenders to be up there with the best. Scarlett and Harley have 250 games of experience, Hunter and Glass have 158 games, I'm a big believer in experience making better defenders (obviously) so I think we have reason to be optimistic that this pair can improve in these positions over the next couple of seasons.

AND further ;) , the best defensive combo of recent years, Michael and Leppitsh, are listed at 190cm and 191cm respectivly. They are obviously the size of a bricks hit house but if those heights are correct I think it further helps my point.

You can't add height obviously, but adding a bit more bulk to Hunter's frame will probably be possible.

I agree Black Juju. There is no doubt that Glass and Hunter will get better with age and experience. They are doing exceptionally well this year, and i don't really forsee much change.

Also, Staker is a 3rd option.

However i'd still like to try and get Hay cheap if we could. I wouldn't be prepared to give much away though. Would Wooden /R.Jones and maybe a 2nd rounder be acceptable in your opinion??

Don't forget Lynch who played there last year and you can even add B Jones to the list as well

We seem to have enough options so i wouldnt even bother with Hay

If it aint broke why fix it??

You're three games clear on top for christs sake! what more do you want?

Polak? you cant be serious. He's too slow and too dumb to play at CHB, Thompson proved that today beyond doubt!

So what? its hardly relevant to this topic!

I said last year when Chad Cornes revolutionised the CHB position that Adam Hunter would be our CHB this year and would play a similar role and do a good job... and I was right!

Gasper will be lucky to get another game with us in my opinion not good enough I would trade him or delist him (MY OPINION).

Mc DOUGALL got to get tuffer or he will not make either with EDWARDS , GRAHAM , GARDY, LYNCH AND HANSEN as forward options and then you have SEABY and COX to rest there as well. Good luck to these guys they'll need it again IN MY OPINION.

This has been posted on othe topics but I thought that Id give it its own now. Jon Hay springs to mind, Polak for sure as well!

JONATHON HAY has been ,to old not good enough or consistant enough at this level that is needed to be a quality CHB , POLAK is on the other hand and should ask to be traded to the EAGLES.
