AFAIK can only do that if they're not under contract... and i doubt we'd try and screw over a player by keeping them on a list this late to just delist them

I feel that this should be the way to go now, if there is anyone that may be of interest that was not drafted on Thursday that may help out on balancing the list i.e. back up/speculative KP/tall or somebody with exceptional foot skills that can find the pill (Western seemed to be aiming at).

C.Johnson is not going to make it as a backman, and I only see him making a contribution to the side as a wingman using the left boot into the fwd50 / goal scoring. There is further competition for this spot now which will count against him getting a regular game in this position (or if he remains on an AFL list).

I think Gold Coast get the 1st 5 picks in rookie draft this year, so if we need to go after someone that we're hoping to jag in the RD, we might as well sharpen the odds of drafting them in the PSD with fewer picks (most already allocated) before us.

Subject to how CFC rated the leftovers (and obviously not alone in passing on these players) but there are players out there like; Casboult, Hill, Panos, McDonald, Grimes, Dare, Archer, Stopp or any other roughies that the recruiting brains trust has/had on their radar that may be worth putting our dibs in before Gold Coast swoop.

The 3 oldest players on our list are Scotland, Houlihan and Wiggins. Purely with an ageist slant, Johnson was clearly selected to replace that triumvirate (and Bannister).

It came then as no surprise that we recruited a 'medium' in Lucas.

So, the HFF for Johnson is certainly worth trying; his precision kicking could deliver us a goal or two a game.

Why delist someone just to mature-age rookie them, when we can mature-age rookie the guy that's not already on our list anyway?
