Yes I know I predicted an upset and I know some might look at me writing this and will think give it up idiot and thats probably fair enough. But watching the game tonight, I didn't really think we were that bad overall. Yeah we made some stupid errors and they cost us on the scoreboard, but I don't think we ever hoisted the flag and just bent over and copped it like we would have in past years. We still tried to play the way Wallace wanted us to play, we still tried to take the Cats on when moving forward.

At least now we know what is needed to become one of the top sides in the competition. Hard at it, team orientated play and 100% commitment from every player on the ground. I could have sat here and unloaded with another negative thread, but instead I'm looking at the positives.

Deledio took another step towards becoming a very good player, Tambling followed up last weeks good game with another, White and Edwards continued their improvement, Moore had another solid game down back, McGuane did ok considering the ball was in the Cats F50 for 3/4 of the game.

Bring on the remaining 4 weeks of the season and lets aim at winning 3 of them and ending the season on a great note.

Big lesson in taking your chances....

Must have been 5/6 times we had a very gettable shot on goal, missed, then the ball rebounded for a Geelong goal.

I actually agree with you for once. :D

Next week is our do or die match. If we win and defeat the Dees and Dockers like we should then I think we'll play finals. So bring on next week and hopefully Simmo, Richo and Brown are okay to play.

The only team that hasnt been smashed by Geelong in the past 6 weeks is Hawthorn.

Ask Bulldog fans how they felt after their mauling.

We will survive, lets bounce back in Adelaide next week. :thumbsu:

I don't think we were actually THAT bad. We just cant hit targets under pressure and cant kick goals. At least the commitment to get the ball was there, we just not good enough when we do have it.

Agreed RT, we weren't THAT bad. We seemed to have a lot of bad luck tonight, the ball just wouldn't bounce our way. Indicative of the match really was in the last when White was running onto a bouncing ball which would've resulted in an almost certain goal, and the ball seemed to stop it's run on and just about go backwards. Bit of bad luck, bit of an error by Whitey perhaps in over-committing. Things just didn't quite go our way.

On a slightly related note...not in any way blaming the umpires, but how was it possibly not 50 to McGuane (was it McGuane) when Ling ran straight into him 5 or 6 seconds after he'd taken the mark, when he was assessing his options? Would've been a certain goal, but we turned it over and the Cats kicked one on the siren. Would've been 50-36 as opposed to 56-30 at half time. Still wouldn't have one, but it would have been nice to be 14 down instead of 26 at half time.

Very good point. Adelaide is HUGE and I reckon we can get there. Lions, Pies and even North still very very vulnerable

Had a quick look Sante and we only have to win 1 game more than the Lions and Pies to make it.

Lions last 4: Hawks(Tas) Dogs & Blues (Gabba) Swans (SCG)
Pies last 4: Saints(MCG) Port(AAMI) Sydney(TD) Freo(SUB)
Tigers last 4: Crows(AAMI) Hawks(MCG) Freo(MCG) Melb(MCG)

Probable wins highlighted in Bold.

I felt we actually played preety good apart from the clangers, the umpires affected the boys confidence with frees payed one way and not the other.....as well we missed alot of gettable shots ......as well as we kicked for goal the last two eeks this week apart from a couple of times we were diabolical...

cam white showed a lot of spunk....richo was richo alway gave his all, Mgaune will be a great player if we can keep him away from GC17.

they were bigger stronger and blessed by the red gods

That's very interesting. Imagine if we got in with 10.5...

I did a ladder predictor, and had us coming 8th if we beat Adelaide, and 10th if we didn't. Only problem was, we were 8th one spot ahead of North, only over them by about 1%. Tonight doesn't help:(. I assume I pencilled Pies v Freo in as a win for the Pies. Also Brissy are a chance against Dogs in Brissy. But we aren't without a chance if we get two more.

UMPIRES NEVER EVER INFLUENCE A GAME it took the wind out of our sails...........there were alot of stupid decisions

Agree we will probably need 3 to be certain, but the way the Pies looked the last 2 weeks and Brisbane have for the last month it might just be the 2. Here's hoping its the latter. :thumbsu:

We lost which is obviously disapointing, but not unexpcted.
The disapointing thing was all the easy shots on goal that we missed. Most of our behinds should have been a goal. Really let ourself down their

Thats what annoyed me, you have to take youre chances against a team like Geelong and we couldnt.

We need to bounce back against Adelaide next week, against a team we have struggle with in recent times.

Yep, and almost every time we didn't take them.
Bang they would kick a goal and make you pay

I actually think we played bad. I didn't expect them to go to jelly and revert back to the shocking disposal like we did last night. It was embarrassing to watch. I hope it was because they were just plain intimidated about playing the Cats (and I reckon I would have too) and not an accurate portrayal of where we're at. I don't think that's the case, but if they're going to play finals footy, they better get used to playing the top teams or it will be more embarrassment. It was their poor disposal which put us out of the game IMO. In every other respect I thought we matched them. So that is an encouraging sign if they can get it together they should be able to compete well.

We have a very good AWAY record this year (relatively speaking). Next week's game is the key to making the finals. And we have the class to win. But expect more 'big body battering' from the Crows. We have pace to burn. They will try to close us down.

I Agree!
Tigers had tried there best against the top side in the competition so we still have 4 games coming 3 of them we have a chance with not so much hawks but you still dont know what could happen in that game though.

Overall well done to tigers they have done well this year than other years.
Best year since 2004 i think or 2003:)

I believe like most we have improved this year but still a long, long way to go ,there was periods in the game that I saw the team appling pressure to the opposition but nowhere near enough just hope next week the side dont go into their shells and instead go for broke (take risks) .The next year will tell us a lot run and carry style footy can be pretty to watch but when the opposition shuts a side down can turn quite ugly, so I will pose this question are we able to shut opposition sides down to me this is an aspect of the game which Richmond need to work on.

In a way, it was good to put in a very poor display against the league's best. Sooner do that and be lucky to get away with a 10 goal loss than to do it against, say, the Crows and go down by a kick.

Crows likely to be without Porplyzia and Knights from yesterday's game.

However, McLeod's 300th....
