We missed Patto!

I couldn't help but notice how far out of his league young Browne was, he was thrown into the deep end and unfortunately he was barely staying afloat. We really did get smashed in the clearances and the way Carlton ran and spread was a key part to our downfall.

We need a 2nd string ruckman who is competitive it was shown tonight, who knows if he keeps his spot i'll be suprised.

Not saying he is a saviour just stating the fact he was a bigger loss than most of us would have been expecting. Credit to your man Sauce Jacobs he clearly smashed Browne.

I have yet to see a game where Patto doesn't give his all. He's all heart and I'd rather see Patto give his all and lose then see the performance of most of our blokes not putting any effort.

70% ability / 100% heart / 150% effort.

I'd prefer that.

We need a first ruckman, a competent coach that will teach players to improve their skill level and a competent medical staff that will not put a player back on the ground that is suspect at three quarter time. who would be backing up a second rate player in Simmo. I heard a woman, who must have been a non footy girl there for the glitz of the night suggest, bumbling booby each time he went near it. Not to mention that here we are looking at a kid for to take second ruck and we aint got a ****ing first ruck...like WTF??? Just imagine if this Browne kid, who for a first gamer, would be one a select few who could come away from the game with some kind of positive, but imagine if he handt put his hand up and Gus was the chosen one? LMAO......again i will implore him to cut to the chase....hand in the resignation TW...you have NFI about your group and what they can and cant do.

Unless you just got off the boat, Patto was part of the winning side last year, and made a difference when we had no other ruckman. he's shorter than most, but he contests and shows intensity and he never got thrashed. Most got thrashed last night. He wouldn't have got thrashed.

In case you haven't realised - guts - determination - heart - this is what the Richmond footy club has stood for in the past and what we have lost in recent years. effort (i.e. tackling, contesting a footy, the HARD stuff) isn't done by skill of a bloke, it's done by workrate of which nothing was shown last night, which is why fans of blokes like Patto stand up when small minded individuals like yourself start slaying a bloke.

I agree Cogga, but to say that Patto being there would have had made any difference to the performace or the result is ridiculous.

Well you can't say that he wouldn't have got thrashed - because he wasn't there.

He is currently our only option for 2nd ruckman - and that's why we're up crap creek without a paddle for a ruck option.

A comment such as 'just got off the boat' is inappropriate and completely unnecessary.

I'm sure Patto is all heart, that's not what I'm saying. I just don't think Patto has the ability to be a successful player in this league, ruck or centre half forward or whatever. We are just tip toeing around more disappointment by continuing to think he is.

We have no descent ruckman at all. We were smashed by the carlton ruckmen and they were nobodies!!!! imagine the hitout stats when we come up against two descent ruckman!!!

Simmo is good around the ground but gets smashed when rucking and doesn't get enough hitouts.. Plus he is around the 30 mark and could only have 1-2 seasons left....

You have a point but consider this. Our two main ruckmen over the last couple years:

Troy Simmonds: 196cm
Adam Pattison: 197cm

They're both undersized and these days a genuine ruckman should be 200cm+. Pattison was recruited as CHF for crying out loud. This is our number one problem area closely followed by lack of a FF.

The coach has to be made to take responsibility and not hide behind excuses.

We all have our jobs and work at them. His day job is getting our footy team competitive and motivated, getting the plan right, getting the best from our players. he is doing none of this.

What the hell are they at on the training track? What the hell are they doing all week every week? Surely, please don't tell me they actually train at kicking, tackling and avoiding turnovers. No point pointing fingers at the footy dept. as a whole when the Coach has the reins and is simply not producing.

Terry has to be made face his responsibility for that debacle.
