Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere else but Gary Lyon pointed out a very revealing stat on last night's Footy Classified.

In the first half of the season, when we were winning, the opposing teams in Crows games were averaging about 120 handballs a game. In recent weeks, during our losing streak, they have been averaging about 160 handballs a game.

Essentially this is designed to counteract the Crows defenders who flood back when the opposition has the ball.

This has been pointed out in games against West Coast previously. Now other teams are following suit and it works for them too.

Time for a new game plan!

Rucci has a new alias. It is AAMI. Plan B? Sounds like his theme.

Why make a game of football complicated..eg game plan A-B you don't need a game plan all you have to do is kick more goals than the opposing team:)

Plan B:

When ball is in the air
Win contested marks.
Kick ball ahead of player moving to vacant space.

When ball is on the ground
Win contested ball.
Handball ball ahead of player moving to vacant space OR
Kick ball ahead of player moving to vacant space.

When opposition has ball
Apply strong tackle.

That's enough for now. Next week, we will examine the ruck formations and what players should do when the ball is at the other end of the ground.

isn't that similar to our plan a ?

the big differences for us is in the differential between F50 entries.

we used to be nearly +9.50

now we are about even.

NB. Geelong are the new leaders with +9.50

Well done. You've spotted the Italian gelding. :)
You lot could be on to something here.
ArchAngel Michelangelo Incognito. :p

Our tackling has been way down this year (as well as late last year) and as a result we aren't worrying opposition disposal by hand or foot. Much of the problem stems from this I think.

I agree. In 05 and 06 our tackling and overall defensive pressure was phenomenal. Whenever the opposition had the ball we could generally apply such pressure that an error would be forced, leading to a turnover. Now it's the opposite. When the opposition have the ball they always seem to have all the time in the world to use it, and we are the ones fumbling under pressure.
