Ross - please bring in Armitage - we need this young kid, who only has eyes for the ball and will knock down walls to get it.

This kid will smash into packs and give our outside runners better options than what we had today.

He will not sit, slide & spill stupid marks like R.Clarke did today and give away easy goals - this kid values every moment, every possession and every contest - which was TOTALLY LACKING TODAY.

Forget the pretenders in the side - just give us a young kid who is going to have an aggressive crack, at every contest...PLEASE

I agree.

Particularly against Collingwood.

Pray that Bally comes up and give Armo a crack.

Yeah the MMM boys were saying this,
especially if Bally is out you would have to bring him in, but who for?

Two words - Clinton Jones. Armo will have the same kinda passion and guts that Jonesy showed today. And we really noticed the contrast between him and everybody else today, didn't we? Birss would be the same. I just want to see some team heart, and guts. Chuck and Raph failed to show that today, imo.

The key to beating Geelong was that we needed to put forward pressure on them. They do these little chip kicks out from kickouts. Usually we lay one tackel, but its not good enough as they just handpass/kick to another loose player. I thought Ross would have reliased this and highlighted this fact when Collingwood smashed them. Not sure why the focus would not have been a 1 on 1 contest.

I also noticed Geelong always like to go backwards, there's always options for them to go backwards/be safe then move forwards. Also they like to spread/run out to the wings, whilst I saw a few of our boys running all running at the ball, and it was kicked over their heads to their loose opponents... :thumbsd. That mackie prick has the easy job, hanging out the back of the packs waiting for the rebound, gets me angry.

They also like to hold onto the ball, rather than just throw it out, which irritates the shite out of me, as the umpires usually dont call holding the ball, as they do this very well. I see our guys simply just drop/throw it away.

Our problem is that its very well know that Roo is our main/only big target. There really isn't anyone else. Its not wise to rely on one player. G'Train would have to seriously be an option in the back of Ross' mind, Kosi has tried and failed playing FF imo. He is better around the ground helping out King, and taking marks in the defensive 50m. We also lack the ability to stick/hold tackels, which frustrates me even more, and our lack of accuracy infront of goals can be very bad or very good, depending if we're winning or loosing.

So next week I think the three players I'd like to see in the squad would be
Armatige, Birrs, G'Train

and possibly Ball (if he's fit/right).

Out, I'd have Eddy, Blake (only if injured), possibly Gwilt if theres not a good matchup.

Gwilt didnt do really anything today, nor Eddy, nor Xman, nor J.Gram, nor Roo. The majority didnt have that flair I remember back a few years ago. I thought CJ tried, Dal tried, Blake (as usual gives a decent go), Lenny, Schnider, S.Fisher. No one else really stood out.

Also what has happened to Baker? Is he right or is his knee gone?

We need people who can stick tackles in our forward line. This is where the game turned imo, as our forwards could not contain Milburn, Scarlett, Mackie, and Hunt. Our forward line was congested and when we didn't stick the tackle the Cats were able to run it out with ease or bang it forward and trust their player upfield.

This was the biggest problem for mine, as we were OK at stoppages. Their field kicking was far more penetrating, but I guess I didn't expect the same standard in greasy conditions (just a better strategy for holding the ball in our F50).

Some of our players have limited ability and Blake was one, who although he was giving it his best, really struggled to have an impact.
I thought Dal was above average at some of the things he has been critisized for, (takkling etc) but I would have liked to have seen more of the things he was renowned for. Then again he has been put out of the action by lesser players than Ling.

BJ was good. Would it be crazy to put Kozi in defence and use BJ for a forward with defensive skills?

If Armo does come in, any chance he can grab some time in the middle? FFS!
Playing him up forward is a waste of time.

Also what the hell does Birss need to do to get a game, he's been pretty good whenever he's been in the side. He always contributes in some way. Drop chucky, he provides some structure i know, but he's done nothing. I reckon give Jack Steven a game, i know bringing a kid straight into finals might not be fantastic, but he can't do any worse than the likes of Raph Clarke and Xavier Clarke can he?

The problem with Armitage is he doesn't get enough of the pill, hardness at it notwithstanding. Lyon is bringing him on patiently, which IMO is exactly how he should be managing him.

RAPH ( I Can't hit a target) CLARKE

You serious? do you even watch football? He has improved 10 fold, and is a whipping boy for people like you and the media. He is getting better and better and his confidence is improving. Jeez mate give it a spell, he has copped enough crap from 'fans' like you

No no, clint is doing well.. lacks some shit, but runs V V hard, and gets you 20+ touches a game, and contrary to popular belief, he hits most targets...

Armitage for Eddy

Birss for X.Clarke

Ball for Gwilt/McQualter/Gardiner

Allen/G-Train for Kosi

Tough calls.. eddy tackls hard, bur really doesnt have much impact on a game.. will get much better though, so i think its hard to drop him... he will be a good player for the future

x is gawn in my boox, but they wont drop him

chuck is a safe bet to drop...
kosi wont be dropped

we need a few changes

Ah my European police friend, you need to re-investigate my post:

My point was Jones was terrific, especially with his courage and endeavour, especially seen in his run and tackling. If we want to talk his disposal, I thought it was pretty good too, but that wasn't my point. My point was, Jones played the way we think/hope Armo would.

thank you ross.

common sense rules.

however, are you sure it's an 'X' and not 'R' in front of clarke??????????????

Gee I was that excited about Armo I didn't see this crap post.

Interpol, get your hand off it - this guy is the biggest dissappointment for the club. Mark my words - he will be traded or delisted at years end.

Get over it and start watching other players rather than 4-5 that you love
:):)

Care to have a wager on that?

No, you get your hand off it. Raph was never a fav of mine, but he is IMPROVING. You know, getting better.

I'll bookmark this, because i can guarantee you, he will be a saints in 2009, and rightly so.
